Okay, 6 disks here so there is a lot to cover.
Human Amusements At Hourly rates is the greatest hits CD. It has 32 songs, many of which are GBV's best songs. Of the 32 songs, there is only one I can't stand, "Drinker's Peace" from the wretched concept album "Same Place the Fly Got Smashed." Everything else on there is top notch. There are certainly dozens of other songs that could go on here, but a CD is only 80 minutes long. This is the CD you lend to your friends.
Demons & Painkillers is the B-sides and rarities CD. There are a lot of really good songs here as well as some truly awful ones. I can make a strong case for several of these songs belonging on the greatest hits CD (more on that later).

It always seemed there were two camps of Dead Milkmen fans: the giggling geeks who thought Soul Rotation was deep and brilliant, and the punks that wanted to trample them to the tune of the Milkmen's reptillian debut.
This collection features more of the first kind of fan putting their own nerdy twists on the songs. But there's also a few of the rowdier kind to keep the balance. And then there's some bands that might never have listened to a Milkmen album.
But I mean, come on, it has Adam and His Package on it; that alone should give you an idea of what the tracks are like. A bunch of songs as performed by geeks who want to be punks.
This is a fitting tribute to a band that had such a bi-polar fan base. It's rather good ... Read More:

Having seen the tour in Boston, I was intrigued by the possibility of a live CD from the tour. Was a Lauper and Erasure fan in the 80s, love the Dresden Dolls and discovered The Gossip. VERY dissapointed that this is just a compilation disc with a few unique mixes. Was really hoping to have some new live tracks of some cherished groups. Nothing on here interests me - at least nothing that I wouldn't go to the source (original release) for. I guess it's a fair sampler if you're new to the music.

Working Class Hero - The Definitive Collection (2005.) A John Lennon hits compilation.
INTRODUCTION:
The disbanding of the Beatles was a heartbreaking moment for many of their fans, or so it seemed. What seemed like the end of something great was actually the beginning of a new era - one that saw all the former members of the group going onward to solo careers. And John Lennon, the innovative genius who had been so instrumental in the success of the Beatles, remained wildly popular following the Beatles split, right up to his unfortunate assassination in December of 1980. Even long after his death, various recordings, old and new alike, have been surfacing. Many a Lennon hits compilation has been released over the years. And in October ... Read More:

These folks at Century Media have got a really good thing going. About once a year they release another compilation album showcasing the talent in their roster. On this particular album, you get some killer Stuck Mojo "Two Minutes of Death," along with Merauder, Hostility, EyeHateGod and a rare Punky Brusster (yes folks, that is Devin Townsend of Strapping Young Lad!) There's something on here for everybody, I assure you. Whether you are in to Punk, Death Metal, Black Metal, Hardcore, or Goth, you'll likely find it on this album.
One other note, if you buy a Century Media compilation album, send in the order form inside, and Century Media will send you a free catalog. There is more good music there than you can imagine. Check it out.

Rob Mathes is one of those artists so very gifted that his name appears on countless other CD's...so when he sets out to do his own thing, he puts all of his expertise and writing talent to explore the styles he loves. This CD is one of my favorites and sits in or near my CD player at all times. This CD of blues-infected, spiritually infused pop is a terrific collection of beautifully produced songs with incredible musical performances throughout. The highlights are "Evening Train", a wonderful blues-styled tribute to Mathes' grandfather, "I Slept 12 Hours", an infectious pop/blues song about love and loss, "Although It Is The Night", an incredible reworking of Saint John of the Cross' Dark Night of The Soul, but Mathes delivers his finest, most emotional ...
