In my opinion this is the best collection of international recordings of any female pop singer. I never liked German music, but Petula Clark's German recordings are outstanding, and when she sings in German, it becomes a sensual language. To my surprise, The International Collection is my favorite Pet Clark musical compilation. In my opinion she was the best female pop singer from 1960 through the early 1970's, and her interpretations and recordings in German, Italian, and Spanish were impeccable. The Italian language recordings on this set are worth the price alone. They are beautifully sung and include many originals Petula did not record in English. Of course, there are Italian versions of some of her English hits included, along with some interesting German language originals and German versions of her hits like "Downtown" and "I Couldn't Live Without Your Love" and "I Know A Place" (called "Come On My Boy" in German!)
There are even a few Spanish recordings and an incredibly beautiful full-color 12" square book with dozens of stunning photographs of Petula. This is a must-buy for anyone who loves Petula Clark. Who am I to complain about anything Ute does. She's perfect. Really. I do wish though that this had been produced with a bit less lavishness. This music sounds best with a small ensemble, and I'm afraid Ute will never revisit these songs for c.d. and perform them as she does some of them live.

I have listened to this CD countless number of times and I am still impressed with the quality. In addition to being incredible singers, the Bombay Sisters have gathered a very good ensemble of musicians and they blend very well together. The nattuvangam is very well done, especially in Devaki Nandana. The thillana is very soul-stirring. If you love Bharata Natyam, this CD is a definite must. Although there aren't the usual items like Pushpanjali, Alarippu and Jatiswaram, the CD more than adequately covers padams and javalis well. The mallari is excellent.
