999 was always more than just three chords. They were three chords plus some interesting tasty fills from all players. The lyrics were always funny. This album has their simplest stuff ever with hardly anything to spice up the mix. I know punk is supposed to be low budget, but this is totally off the cuff. Way too repetitive. No spark. The guys sounded much better 25 years ago. I don't know what happened to Jon Watson, but he needs to TAKEOVER the bass duties again. I hate that tinny, metallic sound. Guy, please play louder than the bass player! Credit Nick Cash who, even though he's breathless most of the time, is in there pitching. The first few cuts but are OK but the rest is lame.

Life is bad when you have to settle for a CD in lieu of a live Grande Nationals show. Life is REALLY bad when that CD is out of print. So, beg borrow or steal this CD wherever you can and get to a live show NOW.

Grande Nationals on myspace will give you a better description of the music, but think iggy pop and you're not too far away, I've seen these guys simply crush their headliners on a number of occasions.

Best song on the CD? Definitely John the Baptist. Meet me at the Hotel has a somewhat slower tempo here than done live, but still rips. The rest of the tunes are just great guitar driven rock. Looking forward to the upcoming CD.....

Enough already.

"Detours" exceeded my expectations. Sheryl Crow still has an amazing edge, and this album proves that she remains one of the best songwriters in popular music today. In this age of iTunes and single-song downloads, I'm glad I bought the entire album, because every one of these songs deserves a chance to be heard.

The first track is intentionally simple and it sets you up beautifully for the heavy-handed "Shine Over Babylon", one of my favorite tracks, and one that is trademark Sheryl Crow material. Other favorites include "Motivation", "Drunk with the Thought of You", "Out of Our Heads" and the title track, "Detours". The Glam Rock Singles Collection

I'd never heard of Hello until I was reading an article about Ace Frehley where it mentioned that "New York Groove" was a Hello song. So I took a chance and picked this collection up, and I'm glad I did!

This is sort of a cross between 10cc and Sweet. One thing that sort of amuses me is how many of these songs prominently feature handclaps in the production. But basically these guys had a good groove and tight arrangements of pop-rock confections. Nothing too flashy in the guitar or vocal chops, but the band as a whole demonstrate solid musicianship.
