Ferlin Husky always seemed unique to me when it came to country music. And he had a way about him that said he wasn't just some unsophisticated hillbilly. I think that comes through on his album filler here,"Stormy Weather", not your average country song. This package also has "A Fallen Star" that is absolutely as good as "Gone" but did not click as well, perhaps because Grand Ole Opry star Jimmy Newman had his own version out at the same time. Ferlin also does a good turn on the old country standard "Detour". I recommend this one highly.

Unbelievably inspiring. I challenge you to compare his reading with any one else's or your own in your head. He makes it alive. Not perfect, mind you. You'll find yourself suggesting to him in certain spots that he missed the meaning by putting some emphasis or other on the wrong words. Nevertheless, you know you couldn't do better overall. A real treasure.

Bought this when it came out, still love it to life. Would be in my top ten albums of all times list. The shaman who speaks in some songs is amazing. Simple, right to the point spiritual teachings, speaking of the path of love. I learn a lot everytime I hear his words. And then there's Jon the mystic, who I suspect was a great mystical poet in a previous lifetime( Rabindranath Tagore, Kabir, Rumi and Hafiz come to mind). He writes the most mystical lyrics, period. The path he describes is deep, close to the earth and everloving. He's given me so much good vibes through time, I really respect him. He's definitely a very high being, one of my blessed guides. On this album he's quite articulate. I love the sentence " but when the fear subsides I take a ... Read More:

There are at least twenty geographical locations with flourishing music scenes; New York City just happens to be the current leader. With an ever-growing list of bands, one would almost want to move to the Big Apple just for the music scene. Mostly consisting of post-punk, no wave, and garage rock revival, it's hard to find someone who doesn't advocate one of these bands as being the next best thing since soft toilet seats. With time, I believe The Rogers Sisters will find themselves nestled somewhere in the middle of quite a few of these acts. This Brooklyn trio is playing some fierce party music with overflowing spoonfuls of B-52's, ESG, and Boy's Don't Cry-era Cure. Hell, they even do a nice rendition of The Cure's song, "Object."

I am a Michael Franks fan from way back. This is one of his best albums. A must have for smooth jazz vocals fans. I never go on a trip without this cd.
