It's all in French, and just wonderful. The 2nd CD is most unusual. There are unedited rehearsals going on in Piaf's Paris apartment, there is Jean Cocteau who pays tribute to Piaf - they were great friends, there are musings spoken by Piaf, as if no one were recording her, and wonderful songs. It is all the more interesting because it seems to be off the cuff, without discipline, which is far from the truth. 30 Mejores Canciones (1964-1997)Search: Non Je Ne Regrette Rien by: Raphael Release Date December 09, 1997 This CD seems to be indicative of Raphael's later years. I was expecting to see an overall picture of his music, starting on the 1960's. There are songs like "La Balada de la Trompeta" that reflect his powerful, and yet melodic voice. This song does not appear in this album. However, Raphael is unique in all styles and he has survived for so many years of successful musical career. I am still hooked to the old Raphael...up to the late 1970s. That is the Raphael that appeals to me mostly. |
