I expect much more than this from the guy who wrote "The Pretender" and like five other great songs. The low points are incalculable. Let's start at the first song, the title track. It's Browne trying to philosophize about sex. Needless to say, it falls apart quite quickly. "The Night Inside Me" is an introspective dud. Seriously, it's another one of those "I was so stupid then, but now I'm smart" songs that you've all heard waaaaay too many times for them to be convincing anymore. "Don't You Want to Be There" is, for some incomprehensible reason, stretched to eight minutes when it didn't have enough ideas for two.
