This great CD contains songs from the famed "arena rock" era; a time when rock and roll supergroups such as Styx and Kansas played to arenas full of screaming fans. Many great hits, including "Renegade" by Styx, "We Will Rock You" by Queen, "Carry on Wayward Son" by Kansas, and "Surrender" by Cheap Trick are included on this disc. Many times, one has to listen to a classic rock radio station to hear these forgotten classics. Now, thanks to this CD, many have been added together and can be played time after time.

I give this great disc my highest recommendation. As a fan of classic rock, I was glad to find a CD that contained so many of my favorite classic rock hits. I listen to this CD often, and I never get tired of hearing ... Read More:

can't argue about some of the picks on this two disc set - but some definitely not what i would consider "mod anthems." there is also a universal music release of this compilation - same music - slightly different cover art.

As with the Woodstock album, I would guess that this 2-CD volume covering some of the performances at the 1967 Monterey International Pop Festival is of greater interest to those who attended that June. From my point of view I prefer to seek out the original hit single performances (where applicable). I also agree with those other reviewers who feel the sound quality is not the greatest.

However, the insert contains numerous vintage photos, four pages of interesting background notes written by Andrew Loog Oldham, British-born producer, impresario and author and one-time manager of The Rolling Stones back in the 60s. and one page dealing with the Monterey International Pop Foundation which contains this closing statement: "The proceeds from this ...
