Being a fan of Freestyle dance music since the '80s, I was surprised to see this collection of Freestyle singles available. It seemed like there were no new releases coming out for this genre of music since 2003. There were a lot of record labels offering Freestyle in the '80s & '90s, like Cutting, Jam Packed, Metropolitan and Mic Mac Records. You could always tell a Mic Mac 12" single. Their record sleeve artwork visually popped off the shelf in their trademark bright yellow and red logo. Volume 1 of "The 12 Inches Of Mic Mac" offers a great selection of obscure 12" singles from the late '80s to the mid-'90s. The sound quality is good too. If your a fan of dark post punk in the amphetamine reptile vein, this cd is a must-have. Apparently this movie was scored by possibly the best demented art punk songwriter ever, Stuart Gray of Lubricated Goat, and features three pre-released Lubricated Goat songs and one new one "kill somebody today". Another must-hear is one of the coolest (and possibly one of the last) Wesley Willis Fiasco songs I've ever heard. The CD cover art is great too, covered with various photos and drawings of what look like bloody b-movie monsters. I found this in a used bin, and have asked about the movie, but no one seems to have seen it... where is it? Apparently there's a japanese lovegod comic book also, maybe the movie is from japan?

Much better than the overrated CATS, this musical brings some memorable songs such as "Love Changes Everything" and "Seeing is Believing" wich are oftenly found in Broadway selection albums. Besides, the story is very attractive and the staging seems to have been very suggestive, despite being a "chamber" musical. It's a pity that it became a flop.
