Sacred defecation!!! I have =NEVER= experienced anything like this. Imagine being surrounded by poets, not smooth, suave academics with Dead White Men's grammar-checked lyrics and mechanistic rhythms, affected voices influenced generations ago by British Boys' Schools & buggery. Imagine being surrounded by hopping voices, rhythms of the neocolonized, stewing in the ambiguity of risking independence or second class citizenship. Not one voice. Not two voices. But a whole chorus, sometimes all poeticizing at once--stereo if you're lucky, 5.1 channels if you're not--don't complain, baby, you've got two ears and there's so much to say, you might as well listen to one poet with each of those ears the Gods gave you! Cacaphonous. Sonorous. Singing. ... Read More:

Departure

Search: Moondance
by: Bass 305

Release Date November 14, 1995
This album is titled "Departure" because it's a musical departure, or change, from what they've done in the past. You can even call it an experiment. Well, "Industrial Computer" and "Dominican Moondance" go absolutely nowhere, while "Tone" and "Fire and Rain" are wonderful classics. "305.1", with it's insane techno beat and beautifully angelic chorus is also a stand-out gem, but "China Doll", as pretty as it may be, just doesn't cut it. The only thing that stops it from being an all-out dud is the lead piano (the song isn't much on the parts when it stops). Still, all in all, "Departure" isn't a bad album, actually it's pretty good, for an experiment.

by: Crystal Ball

Release Date July 15, 2008
2007 release Secrets is album number six from Swiss melodic metal band Crystal Ball. This is the first Crystal Ball album I've heard, though I was impressed the band's performance on the "Rock for Asia" benefit show DVD. The band has an interesting style that is equal parts melodic rock and power metal, sounding like a cross between countrymen Shakra and German power metallers Freedom Call. I also hear a lot of the German melodic rock sound on this album, but that may have something to do with Jaded Heart vocalist Michael Bormann's production.

Secrets definitely hits harder than the average Shakra or Gotthard release, but it's still melodic enough to merit comparisons to those bands. The guitar hooks pack plenty of punch, but they're also ... Read More:
