I have always been a Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand freak but after seeng "PIAF" had to investigate her music. Edith Piaf was a miracle brought to earth. How could one person who went through the horrors she went through produce such a catelogue of music? I suppose the street savy one would have to have to survive made her that much more determined to succeed in the entertainment world. In her songs she gave nothing but her all and what performances they are. I bought this 10 cd boxed set and couldn't believe the greatness of her work. She just knocked the socks off of me song after song. Though I don't speak french the creations she produced in every recording translates into every language. "De L' Accordéoniste à Milord" is a Greatest Hits album from 1961, released when Edith Piaf was still active and alive. This title is part of the original 13 albums reissued in 2003 to mark the 40th anniversary of Edith Piaf's passing in 1963. For the fans who are looking for a single-disc collection probably this is not the best choice since it was meant as a career recap for the fans of the time of the release. In any case, the song selection is great and all of the tracks have become classics in Edith Piaf's discography.

Although in many online reviews they refer to this release as a 2007 Remaster, most of tracks sound just like the 2003 Remaster or older, which are not bad, but not as good as the recent 2007 Remasters featured in the "La Mome/La Vie en Rose" soundtrack where you can tell that all tracks have been carefully restored and brought to life. I was hoping to hear a new set of Remasters from the same team that restored the tracks for the soundtrack :(
Anyways this CD-set is a great introduction to Edith Piaf because of the song selection and some of the "rare" versions included (available only on the L'Integrale box set). But not really a must for the ones who already own the EMI/Capitol's 5-CD (100 Chansons), 10-CD (30th Anniversary) or 20-CD set (L'integrale).
