No mistake about it, this is Nu-Jazz at his best.Jazz chords and beautifull melodies over Danceable Grooves and tasty Synth work. He's one of the premier jazzman from Norway,he's played with Terje Rypdal and Jan Garbarek .If you like Jazz with Grooves and nice Textures, you won't be disapointed .Smooth yet Groovy ! Bugge has a new 2001 release "Moving" on Jazzland Records ,check it out, it's also a wonderfull album .

I've memorized every note from the first three editions from 125th Street, and can only say that a few parts of the 1995 edition exceed parts of the earlier entries in the series, i.e. an outstanding '95 "Make It Funky" with the Reverend Al Sharpton; a strong biographical ballad "Georgia-Lina"; and two unfortunately abbreviated takes of "Hot Pants" and "The Payback". The remainder are mostly disco-fied versions of "greatest hits". It seems that a great chance was lost to show 'em where the samples really come from.

A very good collection of some of the biggest hits of soul. If you are starting from a limited stash, this is a good boost for your collection. However, the depth of catalog is limited mostly by the fact there are only 4 CDs. A 10 CD box set or more would really be required to capture the biggest hits of the era. Overall, a good set.

I start to cry because Nebraska is my home, even though I live in Texas.
