Search: Have You Been Making Out O.K.
by: Al Green
Release Date June 29, 2004
Another great album, though it might not be able to match its predecessor. The songs are all good and fine - the hit title track, another one of Al's smooth orchestrated soul songs; the mildly funky "Stand Up," the wonderful "Have You Been Making Out O.K.?," which has Al's voice in top form, the slightly menacing sexual energy of "Here I Am (Come and Take Me)," and "You Oughta Be with Me," which has one of Al's best melodies and a fine performance from guitarist Mabon Hodges; there are some interesting string arrangements in places ("Your Love is Like the Morning Sun"), and I even like the two country covers ("Funny How Time Slips Away," "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry") because they don't sound a thing like country songs - instead, they're done ... by: Quiet Elegance
Release Date February 26, 2003
I hated that this group didn't get the noteriety they deserve. Quiet Elegance was one of the most soulful female groups out along side Patti Labelle and the Bluebelles and the Sweet Inspirations. Quiet Elegance has a harder soulful sound though. My favorites songs on this CD are both the Al Green cuts "Have You Been Making Out Ok", and "Tired of Being Alone". As well as the second cut " Do You Love Me". I hate that the lead vocalist of the group Frankie Gearing didn't further her singing career as a soloist. She would've probably be in the blues genre today. If you want some great soul music for you ears check out Quiet Elegance.

Release Date May 07, 1996
To listen to Al Green; especially on this compilation is what an excellent grape is to what makes a fine wine. The music on this work is his absolute soul. Listen to the yearnings from in the beginning of his career, his restored faith in God and the love he has for music. Al invites you into the soul of his life. I personally met Al in 1983, and spent an entire day with him in his (then) Memphis Studio. (Al Green International). I can tell you that he is a perfectionist and highly critical of himself if the "music isn't flowing." He is an awe to watch. The experience was especially gratifying because he shared his workday with just a devoted fan. Al is all that; giving his heart, talent and his mind for us to savor. To buy this ... Read More:

Release Date March 27, 2001
Al Green was on top form in the early 70s, and with 1972s 'Call Me' was riding high off four classic soul albums and a string of hit singles. This album is one of the best. Both the title track and 'Here I Am' are all time classic jams, and the rest of the album follows suit with soft yet gritty, soul stirring slow burners, perfect for any mood be it early in the morning or late at night in the dark.
That whole dusty, southern sound is very present here, and the lyrics are knowledgable, deep & true. Als vocals are impressive and the overall vibe here is firey! An essential piece from Al Greens classic early 70s back catalogue.
