I grew up with my grandparents, and was introduced to the gravel that is the voice of Kenny Rogers at a very early age. One of my aunts gave me a cassette of Christmas Wishes when I was about five years old, and it was the first Christmas tape I had ever owned. My grandfather finally forbid me to play it anymore because not only was it beginning to drive him insane, but I was about to warp the tape. I'm 21 years old now, and I have more than 50 Christmas CDs in my collection, but this album still is the one I go back to. It's the one playing at dinner on Christmas Eve, and Christmas morning when we're all opening our presents. Not to wax poetic, but it's a truly timeless album. I had this CD on an album when I was growing up and it has been digitally remastered onto a CD. No surprises. Great value. I just wish they would put a couple bonus tracks on these remastered CDs. As with the album, there are ten songs on this CD. For the price, its a steal.

Kenny has recorded five Christmas albums - four solo and one with Dolly - but this was the first one he did. It includes an excellent mix of the familiar and the unfamiliar.

The most familiar songs here are White Christmas (the Bing Crosby classic), When a child is born (the song that gave Johnny Mathis his only UK number one hit), O holy night (one of the most popular carols) and My favorite things (originally sung by Julie Andrews in the Sound of Music).

Before you get to them, there are some great songs, of which Carol of the bells is a cover but the others might all be originals. Kenny must like Sweet little Jesus boy a lot - he re-recorded it for the Gift, one of his other Christmas albums, but I particularly like Kentucky ... Read More:

I hope I get my delivery before Christmas, I have been searching and searching for the album for the past 3 years and could never find it. "This Christmas" really gets me into the spirit even though I am single and hearing it makes we "well up" a bit inside. I just love this album.
