Junior Varsity's re-release of their debut album, The Great Compromise, probably marks a good chance for the band to further distance themselves from their older material and really move forward. An album that has been sought by diehard fans for awhile, Victory Records finally decided to cash in and release this album as a deluxe edition full with DVD and bonus tracks.

The good news for JV fans is that what they're getting out of the deal is just another great disc that they probably don't own already. The liner notes include the lyrics to all the songs as well as notes from the members of the band about each song. These guys are really amazing musicians. I went to a show not knowing who they were, but they were really really good. I was expecting to hear another average band, the kind that all sound the same, but these guys really impressed me. Not to mention they played an awsome show to be having such bad luck..they had just bought a van and were starting thier tour, when it broke down and was going to cost the $2,800 to fix it, so i gave them all the money i had and eventually everything worked out. So this cd is really good and they are really nice guys who appreciate thier fans, so at least check them out : D

These guys are really amazing musicians. I went to a show not knowing who they were, but they were really really good. I was expecting to hear another average band, the kind that all sound the same, but these guys really impressed me. Not to mention they played an awsome show to be having such bad luck..they had just bought a van and were starting thier tour, when it broke down and was going to cost the $2,800 to fix it, so i gave them all the money i had and eventually everything worked out. So this cd is really good and they are really nice guys who appreciate thier fans, so at least check them out : D

I stumbled upon this the other day and of course grabbed it up. This is a great collection and well worth having, especially for existing fans of the band.

I gave it 4 stars because 1) it could have had another half dozen songs on it, 2) some of their best were left off and some that were included weren't their best, and 3) some of the songs are not the original recorded versions and this should have been disclosed up front.

That said, I think it's GREAT that they have included alternate recorded versions on this disk! They are closer to well recorded demos than fully polished studio cuts, but that's a cool thing in my book. They are well done but fairly bare bones - the real band without a lot of studio fakery & polishing. ... Read More:
