.............never heard of Karryn Allison until just now? I am nearly 60 years old and love love love "musica brasileira" from almost anyone who can pull off a good recording. This CD is just amazing, and I've heard lots of artists try to record these songs.
I spent 2 years in Brasil many years ago and loved what I heard so have always loved the music. Karryn has a great voice and I am going to go seek out other things she has done.
Great CD!!
Release Date August 27, 1990
Barbosa-Lima arranges and plays the Jobim masterfully. He really understands the samba/bossa nova guitar rhythm, offers us interesting and beautiful arrangement, and is an accomplished technical guitarist. I can't quite figure out why the Jobin and Gershwin are mixed on one CD, but much of the Gershwin is worth having as well.

Release Date October 20, 1998
Of course, the hits speak for themselves. But for me, the best part of this 20-CD set is the inclusion of those rare 45 sides never before on any domestic LP or CD. Many fans today have never heard tracks like "Say Hello," "I Sing The Songs (I Write The Songs)," "Night and Day (Disco Mix)" and "The Only Couple On The Floor" unless they own this collection.

I am so pleased to see a CD version of one of my favorite of Jobim albums.
I have the original 2-LP set that was produced about twenty years ago and when I played it about six months ago, back at home in California, it still sounds wonderful. The sound is rich and full; the compositions range from the haunting Luisa to the Hector-Villalobos'like "Tren a Caparita."
This is a record that is best listened to late at night when there are no competing sounds and either you get lost listening to it or study the arrangements.

Release Date June 09, 2005
This 1971 album was released shortly before Frank Sinatra's infamous retirement in June of that year. Comprised of never before heard studio outtakes between 1969 and 1970, it is a very second rate effort by Sinatra standards. There's some truly great songs on here, and some truly insipid recordings that do not serve Frank's genius justice.
The first half of the album is the better half. In this section, Frank reunites with Antonio Carlos Jobim, whom he had previously collaborated with in 1967 on what is one of his best albums. This second get-together doesn't hold quite the warmth or chemistry the first album had, but is very solid overall. Frank's in fine voice, and Jobim is in top form as well. The songs are beautifully performed quite well, especially "Wave," ... Read More:
