It's my fault of course but WHY is this atrocity in the actual RUSH section of the store? This is Karaoke music at best. When I bought this, I thought it might be various artists or some sort of interpretation of the songs but it's a mediocre bar band. I should have taken my 13 dollars and ate it. This was a bad idea. The only difference in the versions is that one band is untalented. The singer DOES NOT sound at all like Geoff Tate of Queensryche or Geddy but more like someone from a bad 80's metal band. This is shameful and an utter waste of money. I want an apology from whoever distributed this nonsense. This was the worst spent money on a cd ...EVER! As a Rush fan for many (30) years , this is an abomination of their music. It would have been a little better if there was no percussion ....this guy was horrible. The drumming sounds like a junior high snare drummer that knows one little ratta-tat-tat and plays the same thing on every song. The terrible tone and playng of this drummer sounds like popcorn popping in the background. The group as a whole are just not a tight group. This sounds like a practice session that got recorded while the annoying fiddlesticker was doodling. This bunch obviosly understands nothing about dynamics. All true Rush fans will have fun listening to this tribute album. I thoroughly enjoyed how each guest musician put their own spin on each of these classic songs and how subtle subliminal nuances of other Rush classics were strategically implemented into some of the tracks. Limelight was extremely notable to me as Kip Winger's vocals in addition to some absolutely solid background work made this an instant favorite- this track also included some of the best simultaneous arrangements of drums, bass, and guitar that I've heard in years. The quality of musicianship on this album is tremendous as Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart are matched note for note and beat for beat. chronicles is a fantastic compilation from rush a great progressive rock band from canada.this fantastic compilation features classics like anthem,bastille day,subdivisions and working man.very very highly recommended.please ignore the one star reviews and get this masterpiece

If you want to go out and buy a cd that hits the radio friendly highlights from Rush, then you can't go wrong with "The Spirit of Radio", a compilation which spans 1974-1987. It's a great way to have one disc you can pop in your player and have a good time with Rush, and can easily be considered a great starting point to any of you who have not heard Rush. From an experienced fan, I'd say the disc is definitely representative of their work, but leaves alot left to be explored. I understand that they went with the radio friendly edits, ie. the excerpt from "2112", and all we get from "Hemispheres" is "The Trees", completely skipping over the pomp and grandeur of the title track.
That said, you get some real rockers, like "Freewill", "Tom Sawyer", "Working Man" ... Read More:

Rush's A Show of Hands was first released in January of 1989.
The album was recorded during various stops on the band's Power Windows and Hold Your Fire tours in 1986/87/88.
The sound of this live album was worse than 1981's Exit...Stage Left. If you watched the live DVD and compare to this, the mix on the video (and the re-released DVD) was better than on the album and the mix of the album is why it is four stars.
The album does have some highlights like "Marathon", "Turn the Page", "Manhattan Project", "Mission" and "Time Stand Still".
Some of the others like "The Big Money", "Distant Early Warning" and "Red Sector A" were way better on 2003's Rush in Rio (why fans detest this album is beyond me). "Subdivisions" and "Mystic Rhythms" are way ... Read More:
