Search: Concrete Jungle
by: The Beltones

Release Date December 18, 2001
I had no pretenses that the Beltones could come up with a full-length album on par with their incredible "On Deaf Ears" EP, and I guess this album proves me right. No matter, this is a great album nonetheless, brimming with catchy punk tunes, meaningful lyrics, etc. It just isn't nearly as potent as the EP: won't make you struggle to catch your breath and wipe the sweat off your brow. On the other hand, that makes this album far more ear-friendly, and will induce more frequent listens. Highly recommended.

by: The D.O.C.

Release Date February 25, 2003
Doc is just as great as ever before, just w/ a edgier sound to his voice. His beats, etc. are still the best and 6'2" displays mad skills over and over again. Every single track on this album is really good. It's old, but it's going to hit hard.

Buy This Album! You won't be disappointed. The D.O.C. has talked about losing his golden voice, but I don't know that I'd agree. Although it certainly doesn't sound like it used to, it brings something completely unique to the scene. His voice is rough, intense, and very powerful. (And, if you're a woman, really sexy.)
However, you don't hear too much of him on this album. It's predominantly led by Six Two, and there isn't enough that anyone can say about this man! He is unbelievably talented! The D.O.C. really does have the ear for talent. Still, I'm completely mystified as to why he hasn't released a major solo album. He's been in the business for a long time now, and somehow he has managed to stay under the radar. It's way past time ... Read More:

At the start, let's get one thing straight: This is not jazz. Why not? There's little if any improvisation. That's perfectly OK. Let's just not use the word "jazz" in relation to this music, because improv is what jazz is all about.

I don't know what label is appropriate for this music. Adult-oriented instrumental music? That probably comes closest.

What this music is, is composed, jazz-tinged, mood instrumental music, in my view. There's not anything wrong, per se, with it. In the actual listening, it can be quite attractive. Melodic-based, rhythmically catchy, it often is, at least initially, quite attractive. Because it seldom (if ever) ventures into risky improvisation, it ... Read More:
