Immortal Soul of Al GreenSearch: Call Me- Come Back Home by: Al Green Release Date September 07, 2004 I cannot well afford to get all of Al Green's Hi albums, however, this compilation helps me to grasp Hi sound's essence "Groove and be simple", as well as Al's seductive voice. It has a good design like your favorite book which you read so again and again that its jacket has worn out, and you can enjoy it like such. When you buy a new one, you should not misunderstand it as a used one. But one thing I dare to complain about the binding is its rubber holders which keep 4 CDs fastening tightly. For fear I should not break them down, I put CDs on the holders not so deeply. |

The whole LP Two Pianos Today represents 60s romance dutifully plus some surprising dashes of groovin' on Georgy Girl and Something Stupid. On the Soft and Wicked selection, watch out for the beautiful mysterious sound of Last Tango in Paris, and the 'feel good' factor in his interpretation of Clair and Tie a Yellow Ribbon. Five stars for well-crafted performances of 30 years vintage! |

Call MeSearch: Call Me- Come Back Home by: Al Green Release Date June 29, 2004 Another great album, though it might not be able to match its predecessor. The songs are all good and fine - the hit title track, another one of Al's smooth orchestrated soul songs; the mildly funky "Stand Up," the wonderful "Have You Been Making Out O.K.?," which has Al's voice in top form, the slightly menacing sexual energy of "Here I Am (Come and Take Me)," and "You Oughta Be with Me," which has one of Al's best melodies and a fine performance from guitarist Mabon Hodges; there are some interesting string arrangements in places ("Your Love is Like the Morning Sun"), and I even like the two country covers ("Funny How Time Slips Away," "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry") because they don't sound a thing like country songs - instead, they're done ...
