Emily Smith is a brilliant new voice in Celtic music! Her new CD "Too Long Away" could easily have been titled "Too Long a Wait" as far as I am concerned, after hearing a couple of the cuts on a promotional CD months ago. What a wonderful album, a nice mix of traditional songs with her own beautiful compliations. Her husband, musician Jamie McClennan, does impressive work with his evocative guitar, expressive fiddle, and backing vocals, but Emily steals the show with her unbelievably clear voice and agile accordian and piano rifts. Ross Milligan ably joins the fray on guitar and banjo.

I have been a fan of FISH since his days with Marillion. I already own much of what is represented here, and only purchased for the exclusive edits, the song "Caledonia" and the beautiful packaging. Disc one is absolutely brilliant...some of his best work. I have a few big gripes about this collection that kept me from making this a 5 Star. What happened with disc two? Where is "Familly Business"? I would have rather seen the re-recorded versions (from Yin/Yang) for the old Marillion tracks...not that they are inferior, but the re-recorded versions seem a bit more representational of where FISH is now. I would have liked to see some rarities as well...perhaps "Poet's Moon". The entire "Plague of Ghosts" isn't necessary...a nice edit of "Digging Deep" ... Read More:

This was a perfect walk on memory lane! I'd almost forgotten how much I loved Robin Trower's silvery, ethereal guitar and James Dewar's golden-throated, soulful voice. Day of the Eagle has many of the iconic Trower songs, and I listened to it several times, then loaded it on my mp3 player for any time I need a "fix". No other guitar player today has the same sound; Robin Trower is truly an original. A must-have for all Trower fans and those who love guitar legends.
