What can I say? Just an overall excellent mellow cd that is right up there with the best. I mean, how can you beat Leonard Cohen? The dudes a legend! His poetry/lyrics along with Anjani's luscious etherial voice make this a keeper. I love every song on this album. Thanks for the Dance is just terrific in sadness, clarity and openess. Sample the tracks to see if it is your style. Can't wait for her next cd.
The bonus dvd included has a couple music videos with the Golden Voice himself, LC. Neat. A real treat.

This cd is delightfully lyrical with songs I enjoy even while reading. Not too intrusive, the music lingers, however, in one's memory. I have played it frequently, sometimes listening to the lyrics and other times, reading.. I heard Ms. Peyroux while shopping in a local health food store. Asked the sales person who the singer was and then I ordered it from Amazon. End of story. Anna Seidler....

Pianist Anjani Thomas has been doing her thing for decades, usually spending most of her time collaborating with her mentor, Leonard Cohen. And her latest release Blue Alert is nothing short of excellence.

Those of you that aren't fans of "piano jazz" (for lack of a better term) probably won't think much of this album because you might think that all the songs blend into each other, but in MY opinion, the album never runs out of gems. Standouts include the title track, "Nightingale" and "Never Got to Love You". Also stellar are relationship turmoil songs like the final two, "Crazy to Love You" and "Thanks for the Dance".
