What a horrible CD! Now granted I only listened to ALW because I could not bring myself to see the other two trashed. Starlight Express is done without words, and while I can see that in many musicals not on Pumping Iron! The lady singing Evita sings worse than I do and believe me you do not want to hear me sing. The guy singing Music of the Night sounds like he is trying purposefully to scratch his voice and they really picked up the beat and added what sounds like an electric guitar (no its not the beautiful Michael Crawford version). I must end here. I can't say anymore, but Ladies and Gentlemen do not get this CD for your children. They will hate musicals if this is their first experience with it and be ultimately shocked if it isn't.

I gave this CD only 3 stars because it contains tracks that, for me at least, are too variable in style. A little variety is fine, but I usually want to hear either "authentic" polynesian music or the more recent, quasi-Hawaiian style, depending on my mood. This CD starts out fine, in the quasi-Hawaiian mode, but then goes through a few tracks that sound like a night-club band (heavy on the piano and electric bass!), then switches to more authentic music, and ends with primitive sounds (music?) from Samoa and the Solomons. If you're looking for the broadest possible range of polynesian music, from primitive to contemporary, on a single CD, this would fit that need. But if you want a CD that fits a particular mood or conjures ... Read More:

Annie Haslam's tremedous and multi-octave voice rules supreme, on this diverse, live "One Enchanted Evening CD". She is so talented it is easy for Ms. Haslam to sing classical, jazz, broadway, torch and rock songs. Annie Haslam arguably has the most heavenly voice on the planet. She sounds better in 2000 than she did in the 1970's when she was deemed the ultimate female vocalist. This is another inviolable live recording in front of an East Coast Audience. Ms. Haslam is a reserved humanitarian, vegetarian, animal lover and superlative painter. If she did an album with Steve Howe (Yes's guitaist and her good friend) God only knows how popular she could become. Her rendition of the Beatle's (Paul McCartney) "She's Leaving Home" is worth the price of ... Read More:
