How do you review an album that's not meant to be taken seriously on almost any level that is the soundtrack of a movie that was a comedy full of in jokes about hard rock and metal? Answer? With great difficulty. So here is a brief run down of what you get;
Jack Black and Kyle Gass basically spend a lot of time twanging acoustic guitars in a plentiful supply of acoustic tracks with vocals delivered by Black in a nicely produced work where it's actually important to hear the lyrics. The album basically follows the course of the film and a number of the tunes like ....well like a bunch of them don't really make a lot of sense taken out of that context. So you really need to see the film dudes. But other parts of the disc do work even if you've ... Read More:

Do yourself, your family, and your friends a favor: Purchase this outstanding album if you are thinking about improving your knowledge of the Tropicalia era in Brazil. The music here is an illustration of what it means and what it takes to create art during a period when government repression of political, religious, and social views have become commonplace...reminds me a bit of today. Check it!

We've really been enjoying Doug's newest CD...all the songs on "In Our Circle" have catchy melodies. Just like the songs on Mr Fleming's two prior CD's, most of the tunes get everyone up and moving and expressing themselves...even some of the grown-ups!! And, as if that weren't enough, he teaches some important lessons in the process...like good manners. We can all use a refresher course in that!! When Doug's first two CD's were released we bought one copy for the house and later realized we needed another CD for the car. This time we just ordered two from Amazon from the start and we're glad we did. Gotta go...there is shimmying, carpet surfing, bouncing and hopping to be done!! Thanks for another winner, Doug. You rock OUR world!!

"We are normal and we want our freedom!" That's the chorus of the first song on this LP, a line probably borrowed from the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton, in the Avant-Garde play Marat/Sade, and it goes without saying that this CD is anything *but* normal. Part British Music Hall, part Psychedlic Blues, part 20's cover band, and 100% British Eccentric, the Bonzos were riding high in popularity in Great Britain in 1968, partly due to their weekly appearances on the BBC's tea-time show "Do Not Adjust Your Set." While is has a couple of sleepers, notably Neil Innes "Postcard", it rips Britain's blue-eyed blues asking the immortal question "Can Blue Men Sing The Whites", forsees British Occult-Heavy Metal with "11 Mustachioed Daughters" and celebrated British ecletic eccentricism ...
