I first came upon the work of singer-songwriter Dave Mallett through Austin's own Rich Brotherton -- he's been performing Dave's 'Ballad of the St. Anne's reel' for many years. I had also heard his 'I knew this place' done by Bok, Muir & Trickett. Both of these songs are here, as are his widely-known 'Garden song' (which is sung so much that many people consider it to be traditional) and many other fine examples of his songwriting skills.

These recordings, all produced originally by Noel Paul Stookey (of Peter, Paul and Mary) and issued on Neworld Records in Maine, are collected here by Flying Fish for us to enjoy in the cd format. When I heard Fuel was interested in having Chris as their lead singer, I had to find out why. Now I know. The person who called Daughtry's album an amazing disappointment should write an album's worth of music and then we can hear if that's worth 4 or 5 million in sales figures. Please. Put your money where your mouth is and let's hear YOUR stuff. I've been a music collector practically my whole life, and I take any armchair critic's claim of someone not having any talent with many MANY grains of salt. Daughtry's managed to land an opening spot on a Bon Jovi tour, and you don't get THERE with no talent at all.

After continually hearing Daughtry on the radio at work, and liking the songs that I heard, I decided to purchase the CD. VERY wise choice on my part. The CD is great! It's been in my CD player since it arrived about a month ago, and it won't be coming out anytime soon.

If you didn't read my review for their other cd, I bought this one at the same time as Scream, Aim, Fire, based off of the title track single. The rest of that cd was disappointing. Each track dropped a little more to the emo sound. I heard that this one could not compare in aggressiveness to the newer one. Although it is not as heavy as the title track, this one is more consistent and heavier then the end of SAF. Both are listenable but I was expecting heavier.

i dont want to start a fight but

1) Human Beatbox IS very impressive live. Although when you take it into a studio it looses its effect as the personality with the crowd is lost. Kela knew this and this is why he created this CD. He says himself that a CD of live beatboxing wouldnt get far in the buisness - it is very much a live art. In this CD most of the beatboxing is layerd and mixed, infact there is hardly any straight beatboxing. He treats it as an instrument to be used with other instruments, this is taking beatboxing to another level not done by many other people.

2) Some people like English hiphop - its a nice change from all the American gangster rap coming out recently and to lable it as not being music is just a cop out. ... Read More:

Paul Simon is one of those people who produced great music in the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. First as a part of Simon and Garfunkel and then later as a solo artist.

However, whenever I debate the great musicians with friends his name rarely comes up without my bringing up his name because nobody else has brought it up before me. Everybody rushes to bring up the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, The Who, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis, Billy Joel, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Lou Reed, the Sex Pistols, U2, the Eagles, etc. Yet, for some reason folks appear to forget the likes of Paul Simon.
