The Weepies follow "Say I Am You" (one of the best albums of 2006) with "Hideaway." It continues the duo's trademark sound--hushed, ethereal vocals, lyrics that use metaphor and analogy to reference a wide range of topics, and understated, gorgeous production. The music is acoustic-based with deft touches of electric guitar scattered throughout. There's even a surprising little pop-rocker at the end. "All This Beauty" is a great kicker to a polished, heartfelt project. If you like groups like the Kennedys, you will swoon for the Weepies and "Hideaway."

Well I was pretty hesitant to give this album a try since it was coming from one of the bubble gum pop princesses of the late 90's early 2000's. Now I can say this should be considered Mandy Moore's actual debut album. She shows that she is out to create good music that is influenced with folk, rock, country, soul and pop overtones. This album really gives her credibility as an artist and reaffirms that she was the one of the pop stars who actually grew up and learned to act in a mature way. The only reason I give this album four stars and not five is the backing music. While the lyrics are sang in tune, showcase her wonderful voice and act as a confessional for her life the backing music is lacking. Being a guitar player myself I can tell ... Read More:

After being out of print for awhile, Sony has reissued their REMAINS compilation, originally released in 1991. This time, it sports the original LP cover, a nice touch. My only gripe is that they left off the alternate take of "Say You're Sorry" that was on the 1991 edition. Othewise, I'm glad to see that this essential Sixties group is back in print. Also, check out A SESSION WITH THE REMAINS, on the Sundazed label. It's live in the studio, and boy, do these guys cook!

Real Things

His voice magically fits to the ears of listeners of any genre. Moreover, there is not a single redundant song in this album, you can spin this one again and again day after another. Also, his band did a great job to form solid & balanced plays and they are recorded with fantastic sound distribution among the parts.

The very last song is not a traditional form, however, it is worthy of savoring the moment of that song with eyes closed.

My favorite is "let's get drunk and fight", a song for a beautiful night in a peaceful land, with which you can only smile and sing along again and again. Anyone who loved the song "Black and Blue" from Whitesnake will set this song as a ring tone of his/her phone.
