I think Keren is a great songrwiter and that's because her songs are not naive as they may seem.

Nice sonuds, good lyrics, wonderful voice. I really like this album. The rhythm of "Boy on tv" makes it a never-boring song.

So okay, this second effort is not as good as the first one, but solid none the less. Its like the girl who looks really hot at the club and then you get to see her on Wednesday out and about. Without the dark lights she may not look as good but still worth serious consideration. Take this album home and you'll see where I'm coming from.

Ginger's Dish

If you already have the self titled album, I am not speaking directly to you. If you don't have it, buy it. Ginger's Dish is a great supplement to follow up what everyone already knows. Paxton with all the flair of a dump truck, has stealthily created another 5 songs to entice the senses. Granted, you can record the entire EP on a 15 min. tape but hey... its new, its fresh, and Im sure someday there will be other Paxton albums and you will be looking for this EP with hard to find albums in some record store in Green River Wyoming or something like that. Traditional rock and roll, baby, and I like it. Great guitar licks and punchy drumming make this fantastic music to drink or drive to (but not both ;-). If you dig the Stones, the Animals, ACDC, Zeppo or the more recent 'stoner' offerings like Orange Goblin or Monster Magnet, then this is just what you need. "A Little Better" and "Crazy" are great but the whole album is super.

Well as being a lover of Pavlov's Dogs Pampered Menial & At The Sound Of The Bell albums this came as a bit of a disappointment. The songs are a bit more less powerful in their stucture as compared to the previous offerings. As for the bonus material what a shame the recordings of these gems where not of a higher quality. Fantastic live versions of older material makes it a must have.

Currently, Seattle is starting to get its shine with artists like Blue Scholars/Common Market, Boom Bap Project and producers like Vitamin D, Bean One and Jake One. But, this comp, which was released in the late 90s, shows how much potential the city had ten years ago. For those who are just getting into the Seattle sceene and for those who just like dope music, this comp is worth picking up. It really is "Classic Elements" DJs, emcees and that good boom bap.
