Amazing to see how their sound evolved through time- maintaining a tight signature sound that seems to always remain fresh. Truly a band- in that the sum of their parts far exceeds the contributions of each Rolling Stone! Simply Delicious... For a band with such far reaching influence, catalog, and musical tastes- a two disc set can't possibly comprise their musical genius. Two disks packed with one massive hit after another. The first disk starts with the song that has already achieved cult status across the globe; "...Baby One More Time". This is truly heavy duty stuff. I felt the hairs on the palms of my hands stand up. By the time the penultimate track from the first CD (...Baby One More Time [Davidson Ospina Radio Mix] ) thundered through my Hi-Fi system, I was thinking, "Will this ecstasy never end?" and promptly suffered a kind of cerebral palsy and unfortunately missed the last track of disk one (...Baby One More Time [Boy Wunder Radio Mix] ). She's a LadySearch: (I Cant Get No) Satisfaction Release Date October 16, 2001 I love the song, "She's A Lady". There are some other great tunes on this CD, but it's worth getting just for the title track. |
Punk-the JubileeSearch: (I Cant Get No) Satisfaction Release Date August 19, 2003 This is a great punk rock compilation. Not perfect, in that some of the most influential bands of the time have been omitted, but quite inclusive with a lot of the era's classic tracks by the rest. And of these there were plenty, like New Rose by The Damned, Into The Valley by The Skids, Blank Generation by Richard Hell and the Voidoids, Shot By Both Sides by Magazine and Oh Bondage Up Yours! by X Ray Spex. The contrast between the angry little anthems by Poly Styrene's band and the moody, brooding electronics of Howard DeVoto's Magazine demonstrates the magnificent variety of sounds and flavours that went under the umbrella of Punk. It may just be because I've never been a tremendous fan of the Stones to begin with, but I didn't enjoy this CD as much as some of the others in this series. That said, it's still a great listen (I did still give it four stars, after all), but if you're looking for a CD to live and die by, check out the "All Blues'd Up" of Dylan's songs. |

Standing in the ShadowsSearch: (I Cant Get No) Satisfaction by: Standing in the Shadows Release Date October 14, 2002 ...but nothing exceptional. It may just be because I've never been a tremendous fan of the Stones to begin with, but I didn't enjoy this CD as much as some of the others in this series. That said, it's still a great listen (I did still give it four stars, after all), but if you're looking for a CD to live and die by, check out the "All Blues'd Up" of Dylan's songs. |

It start in the south Bronx NY about ca 1975 at a party. The music were obscure funk & disco records he was playing. The man was called DJ KOOL HERC (godfather of hip hop). The record he mostly played is the song "Bongo Rock" of the "Incredible Bongo Band", the song "Apache" is a national B-Boy anthem. Grandmaster Flash, Grandwizard Theodore, Grandmaster Caz en Afrika Bambaataa liked to cut this record (song) on the party's. This CD got a lot of drum/bongo breaks. Groups like Chemical Brothers, Prodigy & Fatboy Slim sampled a lot of this breaks from the "Incredible Bongo Band".
