This record is outstanding. I don't know why it hasn't caught on as well as, say, Tinariwen or Salif Keita or Baaba Maal. Maybe these guys haven't been around as long as those others but they are, IMO, as good. That's high praise but they deserve it.

This group develops a warm, organic Afro-beat sound using solely acoustic instruments, as far as I can tell. The pieces have a hypnotic rhythm that is augmented by the rich vocal work (sometimes from female guest singers, other times from the men themselves). The songs seem to average four or five minutes in length but they are the kind of rolling, easygoing tunes that I wish went on forever. This is the music to the HBO Documentary: The children of Agape Choir. The story of the orphanes living at Agape Orphanage and their lives over 3 years.
It is a heart warming and at times heart breaking story that takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride. You will laugh and you will cry when you see this story.
The music is just wonderful and I love listening to it. The children made this CD to ensure their home could be rebuilt (it burnt down a few years ago) and that they can go to school, eat and have clothes.
All proceeds of this CD will go to the Agape Orphanage. So you will not only get some nice music but also do something good for those wonderful kids at Agape.

Rarely do I listen to a track on Amazon and feel almost forced by the song's greatness to buy it (note to Amazon: if you actually let the full song play out, maybe people might get more of a feel for the album and buy it). This is the one exception. These songs are mind blowing. Literally. Just listen to the mix of "Sadness" and tell me that they haven't improved the songs! That track is by far the best (imagine the best party or rave in your life with the best DJ known to man and that's Sadness remixed), but all of the songs are furious! This is a cd to play loud when the parents or the kids (at whichever stage you are in life!) are out. MCMXC A.D.--Enigma's debut album--was released in 1990. The seven compositions are seamless and play like an extended piece. The material is in a New Age musical direction. The album's sound quality is pleasing. I have always enjoyed listening to this piece of work over the years. Words to characterize MCMXC A.D. would be mysterious, refined, smooth, and creative. I like every one of the tracks. The Gregorian chants, the sounds of the flute, and the pulsating beats are what I find most memorable about this album. The disc is just over 40 minutes. MCMXC A.D. is recommendable.

Want a world tour in about an hour? Take a trip with Ozomatli and don't even worry about getting your luggage lost--and don't take off your shoes. You are going to want to dance. This LA-based Latino group's really hit their stride with their third CD. If you like Carlos Santana and or War, you're going to love this group. Their messages of racial unity and peace are great and there's not a downbeat song on this CD.

"Love and Hope" is the song I first heard from Ozo, but it came from a local radio station (KGSR-Austin Broadcast CD). I've since picked up "Street Signs" and plan to keep getting as much of Ozo I can.
