My wife and I discovered this album on our honey moon in Bora Bora. It was playing at a restaurant. I begged and pleaded the staff to find out who it was. I got the name and ordered it as soon as we got home. I have since played it 1000 times and love it every bit as much.

Kings of Benin is a diverse and exceptional sampling of 1970s African-style R&B. T.P. Orchestre Poly-Rythmo's style varies from funk to disco to R&B. The music features stellar bass lines, an amazing horn section (it's a ten-member band), inventive keyboards, and layers of thumping drums driving the beat. It's got Latin flavor & Tito Puente influences, but it is distinctly African. This is great background music for an outdoor party, a vacation or anytime you want an exotic and different choice of music. Get this CD--you will like it.

This is my first CD by Sergio Endrigo and I love it. His voice is nice, the music is slow enough that you can actually understand the lyrics and sing along. Therre is a nice variety of music on this CD, and I especially like "Ci Vuole Fiore" which is a song sung with children, but is fun for adults, too. I strongly recommend this CD.

I had the honor of seeing Floyd play live in concert at the Indian fair in Oklahoma with my aunt. It was an experience and a huge honor to meet him and shake his hand. His music is very powerful and sends many political messages out. I love his music and actually had them on cassette tape. I finally found this on CD and am very excited to get it. For those who do not understand his music...it's and Indian thing..you wouldn't understand....ayyyee!!

I found "ESY-SHJ" on last.fm and loved it, so I checked out the rest of the album. I got more of the same - as in, amazing, melodic, danceable, yet the songs are all unique and don't all sound like a repeat of each other. In a word, perfect.
"Asian Vibes" is truly amazing - beautiful vocals and great beat. I could have just kept on enjoying them on my last.fm playlist, but this album is more than worth spending the $10 on so I can take it with me everywhere!

20 years ago I heard an interview with Mickey Hart on NPR. He had wanted to compose a piece of music for his pregnant wife and their unborn child. He based it on her heartbeat. They played it through the pregnancy and again during the birth and afterwards. From then on when their son would go ballistic, or cranky or teething or not want to go to sleep, they would put on the music. Within miniutes their son chilled and became a human once again. Their son was about 4 when tthe interview happened and the interviewer asked the son what his favoite music was. "Music to be born by" came spontaneously. And his second favorite? The Grateful Dead. I sought out the recording (it was only a casette at that time and only through the graces of WGBH) and ... Read More:

Starting with the snippet of radio-broadcast speak in "7-5," the audience knows immediately that this is not a casual listening experience.
From the rollicking beats of "Khaleegi Stomp" and "Yellow And Black Taxi Cab" to the absolutely giddy acid trip narration of "Drinking In Gomorrah" to the cheeky-yet-dead serious homage of "Take The A Tram" (referencing Duke Ellington's Harlem-visit masterpiece " "Take the 'A' Train"), TGU puts a masterful world-music, political-conservatism-be-damned spin on Arab rock and roll!
Spin this disc and dance, listen to the lyrics, or clean the house....either way you will be enthralled!
