I had never heard of Los Indios Tabajaras, but I love guitar music. After reading everyone's reviews and listening to song samples, I purchased "Serie Platino: 20 Exitos" and "Maria Elena/Always in My Heart." After listening to these albums, I decided to purchase "Best of Los Indios Tabajaras." I love them all, and although many of the songs are repeated on the other albums, I can't get enough of all three of these albums.
--- Serie Platino: 20 Exitos: This album of all instrumental and very relaxing, beautiful music, and at this low price, it is a real bargain. If you are looking for total relaxation - this is the album for you. Bare bones CD insert - no additional information.
--- Maria Elena/Always in My Heart: This album ... Read More:

I've twice felt eerily close to the presence of Sir James Barrie: the first time was scouting out landmarks in Kensington Gardens, and finding them, and the second was partaking of Mabou Mines production of "Peter & Wendy," which so effectively captured both the magic and cruelty of Barrie's immortal boy that the story seemed freshly minted. A good bit of this was due to Johnny Cunningham's heartfelt score, whimsical one moment and heart-gripping the next.
It's difficult to describe how bunraku puppets, a steamer trunk full of props and toys, and even an ironing board, could be transformed into a London home and then Neverland; I doubt that even a video would have done it justice. So find a copy of Barrie's novelized adaptation of his ... Read More:

Lolita is the best of the songbirds. Sooo....ooo many - all in fact of the songs on this album are magnificantly sung by her. Lolita's singing will go down as being 'unchallenged by anyone in quality, talent & ability. Her singing certainly seems to expresse love & caring, an extreamly hard to find attribute with other musicians to this degree.
Her singing certainly makes visualizing the "settings" of her songs vivid, it is easy for me, for example, to visualize an alpine village in the Alps in a festive atmosphere in one of her songs 'Holliday in Austria'. If anyone reading this, take heed & by all means listen to her songs - any chance you have, you will be captivated...

This is the French version of an album released around 1980 that was stunning. It had great political comment and was delivered with great gusto if not melodically by the singer.Unfortunately unless you speak French this will be lost on you with this version and I suspect that the original lyrics were written as English as it doesn't seem to flow as well. The music is largely the same but with a few horns added in here and there and the song order is changed with Sect(The Jim Jones cult massacre comment) closing the album. The music style is often like early AC\DC and Bon Scott is pictured in the sleeve to which the album was dedicated.

It's important to be aware of what you are getting here. The Uzbek musician Sevara Nazarkhan began her career singing the traditional folk music of her country, and she was a talented performer on the dutar (Central Asia lute) as well. This album, however, has her adopting pop stylings, with World music producer Hector Zazou providing electronic beats and loops. The only thing traditionally Uzbek about the album are the Uzbek-language lyrics and dutar plucking by a backup musician (who must often fight to be heard above the electronics).
If approached as a chill-out pop album, something to make for a relaxed and social atmosphere in your home like a Thievery Corporation, the album is entertaining enough. The material ranges from more active tracks like "Yor-yor" and "Ei ... Read More:

I found "ESY-SHJ" on last.fm and loved it, so I checked out the rest of the album. I got more of the same - as in, amazing, melodic, danceable, yet the songs are all unique and don't all sound like a repeat of each other. In a word, perfect.
"Asian Vibes" is truly amazing - beautiful vocals and great beat. I could have just kept on enjoying them on my last.fm playlist, but this album is more than worth spending the $10 on so I can take it with me everywhere!

The baby doll who illuminated the sixties, alive legend of the French song, heart breaker who inspired the planetary tubes like "My way" (in French "Comme d'habitude" by Claude Francois), it's France Gall. Always for her, another French singer, Julien Clerc, sang "To suffer by you is not to suffer" ("Souffrir par toi n'est pas souffrir"). The union of her life with Michel Berger is marked by a great song, "The declaration of love" ("La declaration d'amour") followed of the arrival to the world of two children and innumerable hits.
After 40 years of songs and 30 years at Warner, here the artistic result of the "Doll of sound" who becomes a woman of flesh who sings. All the great compositions written by Michel Berger and remastered under the direction of Bruck Dawit are there: "Music", "If, ... Read More:

What? Are all these Eastern European type orchestras master musicians? This band PLAYS, and better yet, they are great fun. The track "Djindji Rindji Bubamara" is sweet, funny, delicious; and "Romeo", I'm singing it at work (they all know I'm crazy). Ten more albums, please.
