I am a rap fan, and I listen to very little country. I heard some of his older songs, and I decided to buy this CD. It exceeded my expectations and I will buy more of his music in the future.

I just picked up three CDs from artisits I disovered through this set; Al di Meola, Mike Stern and John McLaughlin. Id covers everything from early innovators through fusion masters.

This Album is an excellant eclectic mix of country and swing tunes from the past. I first heard this album when it came out, and it is still one of the best examples of this type of music. Billy C. Farlow,(not listed on the cover) is the best singer of old-time country music. This album , and Joe Jackson's work in this area, are the best music of this type.

My Son loves this CD. I know because he asks me to put it on everytime we get into the car. Luckily, I like it too. It's so cute, and not irritating at all. And the songs are really catchy so you'll be singing along with your kids.

For Christmas I couldn't think of anything to get my step-dad, one day I got in his truck and he was listening to an old album of Hank Wms Sr so I started researching and decided that an old Merle Haggard CD might be the ticket. Merles early stuff is close to some of the Hank SR music. It worked our great. HE loved it.

MEDIOCRE SOUND QUALITY

Released in 1971, this is Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks second album. It is the first on MCA records and the first to get wide distribution. It is 39 minutes long.

The bad news is that the MCA CD releases have poor sound quality. The sound is muffled, slightly fuzzy and does not have the dynamic range of the original vinyl LP. However, this is the best sounding of the MCA releases, being better than either Striking it Rich or Last Train to Hicksville.

This is a live album played before a small audience. The good news is that the audience noise is almost nonexistant and does not interrupt the music. At times it is hard to tell that this is a live album. There is some chit chat between songs.
