Call it what you want, when it comes to the Hieroglyphics, Casual might be the most lyrical sounding from the group (okay, maybe it's a toss up with Pep Love, but where was his album back in the 90's?). He really has shown some growth since he first appeared on Del's No Need for Alarm prior to this album being released. Not only he is very lyrical, but he can be a versital emcee as well. He is great at rocking mics or telling such hilarious stories, which are all throughout this album.
"I Didn't Mean To" would be his most popular single from this album, a song about him sleeping up with a friend's girl. Other great lyrical tracks would be "You Flunked" and the catchy "Follow The Funk". As mentioned before, he can tell a few stories like on "Loose ... Read More:

Here in the UK, hip hop coming from latinos is a rare thing, if your name is not Cypress Hill, Fat Joe or Big Pun we don't know you. It was by chance that one night while watching Mtv Base I caught the video to Return of the tres, (released on a later album called Merry Go Round) I could not get the song out of my head it was just what I was looking for in terms of more of that raw hip hop with a latin vibe. I picked up the album Merry Go Round and was in awe of the quality of this group and when I found out that they had two previous albums it angered me a bit wondering why I had not heard of them before, anyway I started searching for their previous work and I came across this album.
First of all let's get one thing straight, I thought that Merry Go Round ... Read More:

If you are into Heiroglyphics, why wouldn't you want to hear remixes and rarities? This is an awsome disc, my only complaint is that there is a randomly radio censored remix of Phoney Phranchise on it. That aside, this cd is a definite buy!

Feeling down? Depressed? Had a bad day? An instant solution: "Stone Cold Rhymin'" by Young MC. Yes, this is old school rap. The album was released in 1989. It is a far cry from the Gangsta Rap that is ever so popular today and for some, this album probably comes off as rather square and cheesy. But please feel free to applaud a rapper who refused to conform during a time when the rough and tough streetwise pimpin' Gangsta Rap was starting to take form. Yes, Young MC stuck to being himself and in the process gave us some rather comic rapping entertainment. Instead of rapping about drugs, prostitutes, shooting and pimping for cash, Young MC gives us humorous rapping stories of getting in trouble at school, trying to land a girlfriend at a party or wedding and flipping the ... To some, Dilated came out of nowhere to explode onto the scene with the monster single "Work The Angels". A maniacal joint of ear splitting beats, heavy guitar samples, crisp snares and pyschotic cuts+slices from DJ Revolution (before Babu joined) backed by ill flows from Iriscience and Evidence. After I heard that I was left with my jaw on the floor.I thought real hiphop just got an adrenalin shot in its arm. So when the album dropped I snapped it up hoping to hear more of the same. Although there's plenty of tracks hear only afew really grabbed my attention in the same way. That was mainly b'cuz there were too many solo tracks on it by each member (just my opinion). It kind of had the feeling of a collective of solo artists doing their joints then doing afew together and ... Read More:

Let me start by saying that I own almost every single Daz album and he is one of my favorite rappers (if not #1 on my list). With that said, this is a damn good album, but since I worked backwards with Daz, it doesn't impress me as much as some of the newer DAZ albums. I love this CD, I love everything that Daz does, but the main reason I'm writing this review is to let you know that he got even better after this CD. My favorite all-time Daz CD is the I Got Love In These Streetz album, (get the newer version with 8 extra tracks). That is an abolute BANGER. The other new ones, DPGC: U know what I'm throwin up, and the Dogg Pound Gangsta LP, are #2 and #3 on my list. Unlike most crap rappers, Daz never fell off or sold out, he's still independent, underground, and his CDs get ... Read More:
