*wedding* favorites??? I don't think so! Music from Fiddler is nice, but it's still Broadway. Hava Nagila may be useful, but it sure is trite--So much great other fast music, why go with that one?! Raisins and Almonds is a lullaby! Do they know something about the bride that we don't?! My Yiddishe Momme is a sad song. Not the best for a wedding. Dona Dona is a song of suffering and freedom, a song that dates back at least to the '40s and has taken folk-song status--again, not really for a wedding. So, this may not be a bad album, it's just not wedding music.

My husband and I used this CD last summer when we were married.
We had live vocalists at the wedding itself, but played this CD as background music as the guests were gathering for the reception. It is a good CD for brides wanting to listen to music for possible songs to be used at the wedding. "My Heart Will Go On (Love Theme from the Titanic)" doesn't sound like Celine Dion singing, but is more appropriate for a church setting.
We were married in a Roman Catholic church, so we were not allowed to use anything but traditional hymns, but many churches would allow this type of music during the ceremony itself. It would be appropriate for a first or second marriage.

I have not listened to this cd in a while. From what I remember, the cd had a fascinating mix of influences in the music: Gypsy/Klezmer horn sections, vocals that sound like they are being projected through a public address system and ambiet sounds. All together, you feel like you are in the middle of a crowded street festival dancing.

There's no doubt about it--"The White Cliffs of Dover" will either leave you cold, or it will enthrall you. The reason? The tracks consist almost entirely of music popular in England during the Second World War, and the closer you are to that era, either through having lived through it or, as in this reviewer's case, having studied a great deal about it, the more likely you are to be fascinated and even deeply moved by it.
The music is varied and endlessly interesting, ranging from the touchingly naive "There'll Always Be an England" to Eric Coates's incongruously cheerful "Dambusters March" to the exquisite "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square," which receives a ravishing interpretation ... Read More:

I was really eager to listen to this album because I love Pinkham's music so much, and also because it took over a month to ship. I finally had a listen and while at times the voices seem a bit unbalanced, it actually is a very well-performed cd. nice work.
