What took me by surprise about this CD was the lack of vocals in the songs. Tracks 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10, 12, 14, and 15 had no vocals whatsoever, which comprises about half of the CD and you can't tell this from the music list that they give here. However, I must admit the music is very good and the ones that do have vocals are good as well. If you don't care about vocals as much as I do or just want a mix of vocals/instrumental music, this CD is great for you.

The Wedding Song Collection is a set of songs perfect for any wedding - Irish or otherwise - since the music is gently lilting and perfectly on topic. There are a number of different singers represented with this set.

The title song is undoubtedly the most popular - "The Irish Wedding Song" by Andy Gooney. It mentions all of the ups and downs of weddings, and provides a great background song for the couple's first dance together. Again, it's not specifically Irish in nature, so it would be perfect no matter what type of wedding it was.

the melodies are familiar, but performed so elegantly that they sound fresh. none of the usual overpowering blockbuster wedding-ness, and not at all sappy or cheesy or new-age-y either. we are planning our wedding ceremony to be very simple and very special, and this is the perfect cd!!! all the 'traditional favorites', but delicately and gracefully played on guitar. uncommonly beautiful. i must've listened to over 100 different wedding music cd's, and none were quite right. even though i couldnt listen to a preview of this one on amazon, i ordered it anyway, and we love it! now i am sure our ceremony will feel just the way we want it too.
