Having listened to this CD I though it was outstanding. As a John William fan myself, I always find his technique absulutely brilliant and some of the tracks on there I haven't heard before, which is a bonus. I have quite a few CD's of him playing solo and together with Julian Bream. Also the group Sky he was with back in the early 1980's. This CD I have to say has got to be the best one yet in my collection of John Williams CD's.

I would recommend this CD to all John Williams fans. All so, this CD is genuine and is not a copy from the real thing, which is nice to know. So at least you know what you are buying is worth it's value for money.

This is absolutely my favorite CD that we bought for our baby! We've bought quite a few classical-music-for-baby compilations, and this is far and away the best. The music is fun, flirty, stimulating, sweet, and beautifully performed. It's not syrupy, dumbed-down, or played on electronic instruments like some of those other compilations. We listen to it all the time. I now buy this as a baby shower gift for everyone I know!

After hearing a selection from this CD on NPR, I knew I had to purchase a copy. I bought a copy for myself and also as a gift. David Russell takes his guitar to a place that touches your soul and makes your heart sing along. Even if you are not a fan of classical music you will love this CD.

This is an excellent recording of an excellent performance of the famous REQUIEM by Verdi. The Dies Irae section is especially thrilling. Highly recommended.The "Four Sacred Pieces" is a fine added bonus, especially the "Te Deum".

Sound quality might be lacking, however the soul of the performance is what counts. There is a great feel to the opening track. Each time I hear it, it completely changes any mood I'm in. The orchestra and chorus breathes together, and Klemperer did a fine job on these tracks. If your not nuts about this, try Karajan's earlier recordings.

I admit it: this is less a review and more of a compulsion to weigh in on the debate, as both a performer of early music and a longtime shapenote singer.

First of all, this is Anonymous 4, and these women are much to polished and professional to do anything less than magnificent. That being said, this is Anonymous 4, and they worked for years on perfecting their sound and in particular the blend of their four voices. They cannot be expected to sound like four random singers at a Sacred Harp convention, where anyone and everyone is welcome. Vivaldi's Cello

Look, this cd has its bright spots, but there is so much that just didn't work out with it. Firstly, the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra plays with its usual energy and authentic approach, but Yo Yo plays in a modern style. The two just don't mix. I keep expecting to hear some decorations to the cello line but there just aren't any. Some of the music is just played too fast such as the slow movement of the double cello concerto. It was almost as if playing baroque style for Yo Yo Ma just meant playing it faster. The slow movement of the winter concerto was completely empty of any kind of decoration or originality. It was just straight and flat.

I've been looking for this album for years, we used to listen to it when I was gorwing during the Christmas season, so finding it has been quite a wonderful surprise. I purchased it first so I could check the sound quality and it was awesome. Then i purchased it for mom and grandma and they love it too!
