When Jazz singing, and Jazz guitar playing is done at the highest level of excellence, such as is displayed in John Pizzarelli's "Dear Mr. Sinatra" CD album, it ranks with all the great music of the world -- including that of the Classical masters. This is one of the few albums, in my extensive collection, that I will cherish and continually play, till the day I die. As a professional, studio and orchestral guitar player, I recognize John's enormous talent. He inspires me to play better. The fact that he is also entertaining, young and good-looking is a bonus, and adds to the reasons for his success. Bravissimo, John!

Now, admittedly I'm not a fan of too much jazz music, but that's mainly because I can't handle the self-indulgence of long solos or the arrogance of many jazz musicians. In fact, if you look back on Chet's career, releasing this album killed his credibility in the jazz scene. He went from being a hip trumpet player to being a pop singer, basically. Personally, I think its the smartest move he's ever made.

This album is amazing. I like it more than any other jazz album I've ever heard, and despite what I said earlier, I do listen to quite a bit of jazz (how can you hate an entire style?). Her vocals are incredible! She has a magical voice that casts a spell on you and doesn't let go. I initially heard her on the radio at a cafe in Edinburgh. A couple months later, I saw a review in a Chicago paper. Bought the CD and came home. I spent weeks listening to her and buying up the rest of her songs. She has a very impressive range, genuine spirit that shines through in her songs. Truly someone I would pay to see over and over!

I think Frank's half-dozen or so "broken heart" LP's represent his highest quality work, and this one ranks just a hair below "In the Wee Small Hours" and "Only the Lonely." Of course, as a fan, I also like his six best "hat" albums, those bright and swinging affairs. But the subtle selling of these lovelorn lyrics, recordings in which his silences and his breathing are as vital to success as his enunciation of each word, is something to behold. I keep it one star below the two more famous efforts mentioned earlier because those songs, overall, seem more powerful to me. Harry for the Holidays

We've about burnt a hole in this disc, we've played it so many times. It has a great mix of hymns, holiday and children's music. "The Happy Elf" is a family favorite and "Silent Night" will give you goose bumps every time.

The viewer gets a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse of Mr. Sinatra as the camera follows him around prior to going onstage for a Vegas show.

He was at his best in Vegas and he "owned" that town for the better part of 30 years. Ol' Blue Eyes was one of the greatest entertainers of the 20th Century. Enjoy these incredible recordings!
