The Very Best Of Cole Porter is an excellent CD that has a broad diversity of artists who recorded some of Porter's best known songs. The quality of the sound is rather good and the artwork is very nicely done as well. There's a lot to like on this album.
Ella Fitzgerald, The First Lady Of Song, delivers "Too Darn Hot" with lots of positive energy and she makes this tune sound sharp and snazzy. Ella sings and swings brightly to make this tune her own; and indeed I've never heard a better interpretation of this tune than Ella's. Ella Fitzgerald also profits from a musical arrangement that fits in perfectly with her singing--great! Peggy Lee also performs another excellent Porter tune, "My Heart Belongs To Daddy." "My Heart Belongs ... Read More:

This is a great CD by a rising star in Jazz, Nicole Henry! Her treatment of standards and her original is heartfelt and true! Way to go!

This is pretty much a complete (great) album from the movie, but if you wanted to know what that song was playing during the prom scene, it was, "It's All Your Fault" by Wild Orchid.

Some 30 years after it was released - which is several lifetimes in pop culture - The pristine production and technically-pleasing performances on Aja continue to stand the test of time.
Walter Becker and Donald Fagan take the viewer through the long and oftentimes quite complicated creation of the classic album, which reached the lofty top five status in the U.S. and England, with the cool jazz-fusion delivering the signature numbers - Deacon Blues, Peg and Josie - while selling more 20 million copies worldwide.
Initially airing as part of the VH-1 Classic Albums series, the insight of Becker and Fagan is bolstered by interviews with producer Gary Katz and a several of the musicians who performed in the sessions.

Her vocals are incredible! She has a magical voice that casts a spell on you and doesn't let go. I initially heard her on the radio at a cafe in Edinburgh. A couple months later, I saw a review in a Chicago paper. Bought the CD and came home. I spent weeks listening to her and buying up the rest of her songs. She has a very impressive range, genuine spirit that shines through in her songs. Truly someone I would pay to see over and over!

Every song is perfectly remixed with an ambiance of House, Down Tempo, Trip Hop, Funk, and Acid Jazz. If you want to hear Billie Holiday in her natural style then buy the original Billie CD's but if you love remixes that take the past and make it a blast for todays generation, this is it!!! The flow of the CD never misses a beat. Each song is perfect in its remix style. This is much better then the Nina remix because it's smoother and the producers really meshed Billie Holidays vocals and original music to the new remix style they intended. Once again, if your looking for original Billie this is not the CD for you but if you want original Billie with a bit of Cayenne Pepper this is it!!!!

This is a great and educational movie, but the soundtrack is what makes it! Dianne Reeves is at her very best on this cd, as she sings some of the oldies from the 40's and 50's. She doesn't force it, and her smooth voice breathes new life into some of these long forgotten songs. A must for anyone who loves the blues or late-night jazz.

This CD would have been perfection except for the inclusion of two songs by Betty Hutton (listening to her mangled version of IT HAD TO BE YOU is too painful for words) and the exclusion of Glenn Miller. Perhaps whoever put this collection together experienced a brief psychotic break. I can't think of any other reason why the off-key, over-the-top vocals of Betty Hutton would have been selected over Glenn Miller.

Walter Becker and Donald Fagan have a certain charm that pervades not only their music but the dialogue that is strewn throughout this DVD performance. Here are two slightly nerdy, intellectual guys who because of their ability to write and play cool hit songs, have had the trappings of pop stardom bestowed upon them for most of their lives - e.g. surrounded by pretty backing singers who they covet from the younger and better looking members of the band. They treat the whole thing as a bit of a spoof and are more intent on doing a Seinfeld-like routine with other members of the band than talking about the songs. However when they do get around to playing, no-one comes close to them when they deliver wonderfully crafted songs - lyrics and music with such ... Read More:
