I had been looking for "Baby It's Cold Outside" by Ray Charles & Betty Carter together. I got more than I bargained for. I listened to the clips and wow, I had to buy the whole thing. Cost was not a factor. I had to have it and I got it. Great CD!

Another unique set of songs from Lorraine. Always very creative whether writing or reworking the standards. May not be for everyone but this singer gets better and better with every new one. And there is always something on the older work that you may have missed the first 18 times you heard that.

I have really enjoyed this CD. I've been a Nina fan for about 4 years now. I was really surprised at just how well one can remix and tune up her work to make it more modern without impacting her voice. Good stuff!

Every song is perfectly remixed with an ambiance of House, Down Tempo, Trip Hop, Funk, and Acid Jazz. If you want to hear Billie Holiday in her natural style then buy the original Billie CD's but if you love remixes that take the past and make it a blast for todays generation, this is it!!! The flow of the CD never misses a beat. Each song is perfect in its remix style. This is much better then the Nina remix because it's smoother and the producers really meshed Billie Holidays vocals and original music to the new remix style they intended. Once again, if your looking for original Billie this is not the CD for you but if you want original Billie with a bit of Cayenne Pepper this is it!!!!

If you are not already a fan of Diana Krall, this is a horrible record (yes, and I even remember playing 78's)to start an association. It is essentially the Thunder Bay Jazz quartet with (in extremely small letters) Diana Krall on vocals. And, there are very limited vocals, even in the songs where she actually sings a few words. She appears to be a wonderful Jazz pianist, but, it is not evident from the cover of the album that this is going to be a showcase of her non-vocal skills, and so the number and length of the instrumentals is startling. Virtually all the songs with vocals are up-beat, up-tempo, and in many cases cutesy. So much so, that I began to wonder if some were chosen from an Alvin and the Chipmunks album. Seeing Anita O'Day perform is always a treat. She is my favorite female singer from that era.

I have to ding this DVD one point for poor video quality. It was a TV show, but I don't think they even taped it. This looks like the old kinescope recordings from the early days of TV where they just filmed a monitor while the show was going out live.

Thank you Steve for NOT getting too carried away with disrupting dialog between songs. No dialog would have been better. Then again, why on Earth was GLAD stopped mid-song?

Now, if Win, wood just release some killer concert footage from 94'ish Like RUSH or Deep Purple has...............

Listening to this music I brought back to the America of my childhood and early years. Excuse the subjectivity of this review. I don't think there is anyone who doubts the greatness of this music. And the performers here Sinatra, Benny Goodman, Billie Holiday, Ella, Jolson, Tony Bennett, Fred Astraire, Doris Day are the tops of the top.
That is to say as a review there is really nothing more to say, but that this is the top of the top in popular music.
But again listening to the very distinct sounds of someone like Jolly , or Sinatra, or the clarinet of Goodman I am connected to so many specific sights and scenes of my own past life, and of people who so loved this music and are no longer hear to enjoy it.
