I am a huge fan of the Rat Pack. Let me say that this CD isnt as good as the one that was recorded Live at the Sands. Maybe because Ive heard the routines a million times. Dont get me wrong, I'm glad I bought it. The reason to buy this is the DVD. If you're a fan of the Rat Pack you need to have this in your collection.

When the first song started to play, I got up from my chair and began to dance - I kept it up for at least 5 more songs until I was exhausted! The first several sets are songs from the 50s then it shifts to the 40s and then the music goes somewhere else! OMG! This CD is fabulous. I sang in a jazz trio in the past, so I sang along to the songs while I danced. I had to play a Beethoven Symphony when then the CD ended in order to just chill-out!

I've been a fan of Kate McGarry for many years - and this new album totally pays for my enthusiasm. It's deep, it's smooth, it's easy to listen to over and over and over again - yet it holds a power that makes it so compelling. Just as the title says- "Less Is More" - the use of space and silence enliven each and every song in the album with great awareness, and never in a studied or contrived way. This is a great album for my collection. I am not impressed with the recording but overall 2CD and a DVD is great for the price. Please note the CD is the same live performance of the show not the studio recording.

I heard this guy on my local cable music channel and I immediately leapt up to write down the name, and I'm glad I did.

I'm a sucker for balladeers like Frank and Nat and Gino Vannelli and Matt Dusk but this is so much closer to jazz, which makes it so much better ... more New York than Vegas.

And the cheesiness of Michael Bublé-types is absent from this album--you could never get this guy to sing at your wedding. He would politely decline.

I'd never heard of Jackie Ryan before now. A friend of hers whom I recently met, knew I was a Jazz lover and suggested I check her out. "You and the Night and the Music", the CD I purchased to sample her talents, simply blew me away! Ms Ryan has it all...voice and range to be sure, but her phrasing and sense of timing is world class, as are the arrangements she and her group of musicians put together for this offering. I cannot imagine why she has not been "discovered" long before now!

If you are looking for an artist who brings back memories of Ella, Sarah, and others of that era, look no further. Add to that her own unique talents and you have the makings of very pleasant experience....listening to sounds that make you smile!

A Night to Remember

You wouldn't know from listening to this album that Johnny Mathis is 72 years old. His voice sounds as rich and lush as it always has. Sure, his vibrato is a little faster than in his younger days, but his control, tone, pitch is as pristine as they were when he was in his 20's.

It's nice to hear Johnny revisit these classic songs and stamp them with his own personal touch. I enjoyed all of the songs on this album. Johnny's prodcuers have a great knack for organizing the songs on the album in such a way that it's a pleasant listening experience from beginning to end.
