How ironic that when the label decided to let "20 Y.O" die a slow, painful death, they actually had the genius to release this as the third single? According to me, that album is perhaps the most overlooked Janet record of all time, with people savaging it for no reason. Upon second listen, it rates as one of her best works.

That said, "With U" is what I call one of Janet's 3 All Time slow grooves (alongwith "Someday is Tonight" and "Anytime Anyplace"). Its' amazing opening and the stellar way Janet rides the groove (and no one can ride it like her) is spellbinding, lending the song a timeless air that should be listened to in any day and age.

To my surprise, when I first heard this cd, on amazon, I liked a few of the songs. I bought the cd, I listened to the whole thing, I was addicted to it. It is very different. Very poppy,with different sounds to it. I think that Justin will have a bigger carrer as a solo artist then in a boy band. I recommend this cd to anyone who likes music like Michael Jackson or Prince.

I love this album. This album is just as good as her last one back in 2005. The album means emancipation = Mariah Carey to the second power. The music appeals to Pop, R&B, Hip Hop, Reggae(Cruise Control) and Gospel(I Wish You Well). On this album, She worked with The Dream, Jermaine Dupri, Will.i.am, Stargate, DJ Troomp, and C. "Tricky" Stewart. Her concentration is not on club-oriented dance tracks but on smooth, mid-tempo R&B that pulses with sexy glamour. Nothing on this album is a radical depature, but she gets better at making sexy, listenable, flawlessly crafted R&B. This album has been certified Platinum so far.

Estelle's vocals are a mix between three: Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey and Lauryn Hill: There seems to be a bit much over-dubbing going on in post production.

This collection of tunes isn't bad though. The writers are given kudos: The writing is great. The compositions are what need work. There are no real hooks here. I think if Rodney Jerkins had produced / written this LP for Estelle, this would have been major ear candy.

The unedited version of "Chain of Fools" with the haunting blues opening makes this CD worth buying by itself. But wait, there's more. The hits fit well together with the lesser known songs; this CD may end up in my top ten of all time (I may have to drop a Beatles album because of it).

I respect Rihanna. Mostly because she has a decent voice, nothing stellar like Kelly, or Carrie or even half as good as old-school Mariah, but it works.

I just wish that She'd at least TRY to write a decent song or two. But no, she just lets everyone else do it for her!!

But I digress. Umbrella is awesome. Decent lyrics and one of the most catchy songs of the year.

The beat is quite unique and not very common sounding. Too bad the entire album, Good Girl Gone Bad wasn't stellar either. It has about 5 good songs. I gave it a 3.4 star rating. Check it out. I'm Adrian Cooper.
