So don't expect any kind of remix. It's funny that I've never heard anyone mention that the title is grammatically incorrect: it should be "were," rather than "was." I'm not sure if this differs from the version you hear on the concert film "Sign O the Times." I liked the B-side song "Shockadelica." However, in it, the singer slaps around a supposed girlfriend. For those who fight violence against women, this would not be a cute tune. However, Prince has sung things deemed misogynist before (e.g., "Lady Cab Driver" off the "1999" LP). This record may just be for hardcore fans. Surface-y fans would not benefit as much. |
