Looking at the others reviews I sincerely think you were too much generous or you don't know the music of Tito. I bought this CD and I was desapointed for the lack of energy authenticity by the quality of the arrangements.
This is not a bad CD but the oldies are FAR BETTER.

This album is a must for anyone who likes salsa or even for eventual listeners. If you want to listen to very good salsa instead of the craps that are issued everyday, please never miss this music. The voice of Lavoe is like never and the arrangements of Willie Colon, the orchestra, the brass, everything is impressive. I cannot understand at all why this album is not reissued. Anyway, if you have the chance to get it, do it.

I love colombian music. From their rock/pop artists like Juanes and Shakira to their vallenato artists like Silvestre Dangond, Kaleth Morales and Jorge Celedon.

Fonseca fits in between both worlds. In fact I would call him Carlos Vives lite. That's not meant to be offensive. Far from it. Fonseca basically reminds me of a more reserved Vives probably because the rhythms on Fonseca's album are much slower and quieter than the rapid and loud stuff you tend to get on the Vives albums.

Anyway, if you like Vives you'll like Fonseca. Basically this guy was the biggest artist in Colombia last year. Spend months at number 1, went platinum at least 8 times over (at last count), and he still gets played everywhere.

I have been a fan of Hector Lavoe and the fania sound since I was a little boy back in the 70's. I have recently completed my collection of Hector Lavoe and i was a bit uncertain about buying yet again another best of. this was well worth the money, the sound was fantastic and the selections on the 2 disk set was great. hell enjoyed it so much that i brought an extra for my younger brother.

This CD won the Grammy award in 2005 for Best Salsa/Merengue Album. It is a great CD full of salsa dura, with a few cha-cha-chas thrown in. All the tracks are danceable, with a variety of tempos and plenty of stimulating call and response from the brass and vocals. This CD has hotter tracks and an even greater "big band" feel than the Spanish Harlem Orchestra's previous album, "Un Gran Dia en el Barrio." "Maestro de Rumbero," became a fast favorite, but there are many other songs that I still enjoy listening to. If you enjoy salsa dura and Latin jazz, you will love this CD; however, I have found that fans of smoother and more romantic salsa tend not to like this music very much. Warning do not buy this cd it is defective. the second track (bruca manigua) is missing the chois. Many other tracks are missing instruments within the songs.
