Well, I was looking for more of the classic bachatas and meregues. I was hoping to hear artists like El Ciegito de Nagua and Cuco Valoy. Those are some of the true legends in "perico ripiao"(which is the classic merengue) and bachata. This cd doesn't sound like it's all dominican, but more of a compilation of whatever they could fill it with.

This is definitely one of his best! I have bought this artist before and I loved it. Not sure which one I like more. If you like salsa this is one of the best.

This is the best Salsa music I've ever heard. The musicians
have a genius for timing; the songs are all unique, and the whole album
is great. Colombian salsa is very pure.This is a true must have album.

It has a nice peppery Latin beat. I love Ska Cubano's remake of Chango. They're on youtube and I love them. I have shared their music with others and Ska Cubano gets rave reviews. I love Amazon more each day. The CD is great, but the distributor left a lot to be desired. I ordered 3 Cds from different companies the same day. Two of them were at my door within a week - less than two weeks. I ordered another CD from someone else later... it came in the mail quick. Doolicity, the distributor took a few days over a month - over 4 weeks. The slowest service that I have had. Their response is not an example of good customer service either.

The music is awesome on this disc and I was caught by surprise how the Cuban music has penetrated Africna culture so long ago. According to the booklet this has been going on since the 40's and 50's when Cuban records were first brought to Africa. The unique touches to Cuban son are magnificent. The addition of Cameroonian horns on the Portuguese- African band Tam-Tam 2000 is a perfect example of the merging of cultural elements for a unique brand of Cuban son. There is plenty of traditional Cuban son too to get your fill of the dance music that is hotter than a habanero but cooler than the shade of palm tree on a hot day at the beach.
