As a long time fan of Marc Anthony, I have all of his cds. I love his voice because while it's powerful, it's also smooth and heavenly. I love all of his work, but there is something about him singing in spanish. It's obviously so natural to him and he's at his best then. Not that I know what he's singing about, but the songs are so stunning and beautiful - it almost doesn't matter.
On here, the two standout songs are Te Conozco Bien and a beautiful ballad Hasta Ayer. I love to listen to this often because it's soothing after a long day. While I do wish he'd release more english speaking albums, again, I think he's at his best singing spanish. Pick this up if you are a salsa or a Marc Anthony fan. It's amazing.

This historic session recorded at New York's Cheetah club in 1971 is one of the cornerstone albums of the New York salsa sound. Both volumes capture the fiery playing and dedicated performances by these latin greats.
This reissue has good sound and informative liner notes.

BTW: Remember folks, this is a live recording. Even though it was originally polished in the studio, it contains some imperfections, but who cares? Just enjoy the music!

This is excellent for a real beginner but for me it was too basic even though I am new to Salsa I'm not to ballroom dancing. It is similar to mambo with different timing, but it won't be a total loss. It will help my husband with the basics & we can get some additional steps from the demo. However, if I had it to do again, I would pay a little more & order from The Learn to Dance Salsa collection. I was able to view a sample at [...]. I liked it better because it was more upbeat & I felt it taught more material instead of so much repetition on just the basic step, a simple left turn & underarm turn. Mandali is the best introduction to the African roots or trans-Atlantic nature of Salsa. Sonfo and Doni Doni are equally good. This is a "must have" for your salsa playlist. I've heard it in NYC, Berlin and Tokyo. While not on this album, there's a 7:05 minute remix of Yaye Boy (led by Pape Seck) on Earthworks' "African Salsa" album which shows the power of Africando's orchestrations, arrangements and singing. Africando will really move you.
