You can listen to the detail of every instrument playing in harmony and not fighting each other. This is what the classic salsa was all about and of course the powerful voice of Hector Lavoe backing up the band. At a young age this duo made sure that this album stuck to their street roots from NYC and a hardcore blend of good Salsa rhythm of Puerto Rico. This album is a collectors item. You wont regret it!!!

I think that the CD is good but not as being claim, this is not a great CD is just good.
I supposed if you are a dancer without style you find this salsa to be in your alley (It's a raja tabla Salsa) just fast, no stepping, no cuts, this Salsa gets old. Salsa is a contrast of masculine and feminine movements and requires a bit slower pace. The Gran Combo pace, now that's High Class Salsa, arroz con habichuela y viandas es lo que hay...

Being a present resident in Florida - and NEVER being able to listen to TRUE Salsa de la isla del encanto (Puerto Rico & New York City) on radio or television, ... it's refreshing to know that there are a FEW bands out there that continue to deliver the music that WE (especially Boricuas) wish to hear. New York City has always been the mecca and this CD proves that point. Swinging for those who wish to dance and very tight arrangements for the listener. Now that original SALSA is back in New York City,... how about some of this greatness in music in Florida.
ALSO: I see a grammy in store for The New Swing Sextet. GREAT CD !
