A perfect example of what was to come. Willie's sound was raw and oviously not developed. But a fun record in all accounts. It has boogaloos, latin jazz and other styles that don't make it a drag to listen to.
Original artwork and better, cleaner sound make this reissue money well spent.

Let's get this out of the way from Jump Street: great music. But this is the 2nd of the "new" Fania reissues that I've heard that sound, well, crappy. Fired up by seeing the movie "El Cantante" (the Acadamy Award is safe but if you dig salsa, I think it's worth your time) my girlfriend and I went out and made a couple purchases. I got Comedia, since I lived with the old LP when it came out and she got the just-issued CD of Lavoe's originals performed in the movie. El Cantante sounds just slightly better on her disc but on both of them there's a miniscule drop-out at about 4:45. And they sound muffled, like the early days of Dolby. Just bought this CD on the strength of a song I heard on local radio..."Make It With You"...that I thought was fantastic. This album does not disappoint. Ralfi Pagan has a unique melting-pot style that reflects different types of music, all the while being sincere and heartfelt. A great CD that is mellow, cool, and will beg you to listen a thousand times...well worth the price and if you have friends that hear this guy, they will undoubtedly ask..."WHO IS THIS?!?"...turn them on to him.

I have about 50 Putumayo compilations in my collection and this CD is absolutely the best of the entire lot. There is not a bad track on the disc. It is the epitome of feel-good music, highly listenable and danceable. While every song is outstanding, the favorite track in my household is #8 Kanpe Sou Yon Bit. Do we know what it means? Not a clue; but if you really want to check it out, the liner notes in all Putumayo compilations are informative and comprehensive. Whether you're a casual fan of world music or you want to add to a growing collection, French Caribbean is a wise purchase. Highly recommended.

I believe I own every album Marc Anthony has released and this is my absolute favorite. I love every selection and can understand why he is called "The Salsa King." When he sings a ballad, you feel the emotion and your heart is touched. But when he sings salsa, your feet will itch to dance! All of these cuts are in Spanish, but you'll enjoy this collection whether you speak the language or not.

I love Gilberto Santa Rosa's voice. He is the King of SALSA not the Prince.
Must of the songs on this record became Num.1 hits. He is the best romantic Salsa singer of all times, his songs are meaningful, not bad nasty stuff like other sing now a days and dare to call it music. His music is about meaninful romantic lyrics and he pocesses a beautiful voice.
