I was planning to buy this cd for a long time, since I watch the movie, which is fantastic by the way. While listening to this cd you feel the kind of peace and joy you feel when you visit Savannah,GA. It's lovely and very romantic too. I'm very glad I bought it!

Sammy Davis Jr was one of the Best Ever! This cd is a great overview of some of his finest work. It has everything from his early stuff right through to even his theme song for the TV series Barretta. What this collection has over others is that it contains Sammy's Definitive version of "Mr. Bogangles". I can just pictiure him doing this complete with hat and great dance moves. If you don't get the box set by Rhino out there,this cd is a terrific starter in introduce people to. Enjoy.

This CD has the musical numbers from the 1965 motion picture entitled The Sound Of Music. While this is not the latest version of the soundtrack CD with all the bells and whistles; this still remains a solid album giving us every last hit song from this major motion picture musical. The quality of the sound is clear and crisp; and that artwork is really very beautiful.

The CD begins with the music from the prelude and the overture to the movie musical. This music is delightful and they never miss! The strings and percussion are used to great advantage and we essentially get a musical medley of the arrangements for the major songs in the movie. Excellent! I wanted to get the CD for the movie, but couldn't find one, so I bought this. I really wanted John Cullum, but the rest of the cast is either the same as the movie or better. Some of the music is done a little differently, but it is close enough. If I wasn't comparing the movie & the show I would have considered this a 5 star recording.

This one is a must-have if you want to assemble a top-flight Billie Holiday collection. All the recordings were made between 1935-1942 when her perfect natural voice was still like a bell, and her musical instincts were in full bloom. Unlike her later recordings, there is no sign of the sad toll her lifestyle took on her voice. The best treat in this candy dish is hearing her sing with Count Basie on the piano, in THEY CAN'T TAKE THAT AWAY FROM ME. The Sony remasterings are brilliant and even, and very far above the so-so quality of most Lady Day anthologies - don't pass this one up. A NOTE ABOUT THE ALBUM COVER ART - Take a look at the second version of the cover art with Holiday's portrait - this is the cover of the CD we picked up.
