Listening to Barbra Streisand's voice it's no mystery why she has sold millions of cd's according to the Recording Industry (RIAA) and Nielsen SoundScan. This is a sweet and lovely CD, light and uplifting, esp. the last song, La Vie En Rosa, which is sung by Jack Nicholson himself. The music is a little old style, but my grandaughter, who is 17 loves it. Also, I am able to sing along with the French songs, even though my French is very limited. Love this CD!

"A Wonderful World,"(2002), a collection of duets by Tony Bennett and K.D. Lang, to songs inspired by the legendary New Orleans trumpeter Louis Armstrong, included "What a Wonderful World," "Exactly Like You," and "You Can Depend on Me." It was produced by the near-legendary T Bone Burnett, and includes trumpet work by Scott Hamilton. Of course, in 2002, the New York-born crooner was 76 years old; and his voice was not what it once was: but still, the embers of it, with its liquidity, smoothness, intonation and phrasing are enough to cast his light upon the world. Critic Howard Garwood wrote of him, "He has the face you'd want on your neighborhood bar owner - seamed, rumpled, and infinitely kind.... It's the face of a man who has seen life and ... Read More:

She may be not as popular as in U.K (where they consider her a British possession ), but the American-born singer always delivers with style.
A recent addition to the Blue Note roster of recording artists, now Stacey Kent boasts in U.K. six best-selling albums, a string of awards, including the 2001 British Jazz Award and 2002 BBC Jazz Award "Best Vocalist", the 2004 Backstage Bistro Award and the 2006 Album of the Year for The Lyric featuring Stacey Kent as well as a fan base that enables her to sell out concert halls around the world.
Her latest album "Breakfast On a Morning Tram" includes a mixture of classic standards as well as new songs written and produced by her husband and saxophonist, Jim Tomlinson, and has on her team a ... Read More:

This is not a good demonstration of Billie Holliday. First, too many songs squeezed into each side. Sound not good. For me, it was a waste of money. One of her best is the Billie Holiday-Lester Young CD " a musical romance"

My father beat me once for a misdeed, and I resolved then
and there that Iwould never cry under his beltings again.
He whipped me 'til his belt broke and I would not give him the satisfaction of one tear.
But this music...and this movie... draws out what
the belt could not. It gets me every time. I fight it and the
tears well up on their own...what a perfect tragedy this movie
is, how haunting the music. Gordon McRae was such an artist.
His singing is perfect and inspired in these songs --- and
Shirley Jones complements him so well. I fell in love with her
Julie at first sight. If you haven't got this music or this
movie, you are missing out on one of life's greatest treasures.

Yep I love Frank, just about anything he has ever done sits well with me BUT, this CD here, well it ranks right at the top. Nelson Riddle and Frank were perfect together. The cooking chemistry between these two was nothing short of brilliant and it all fit perfect in this collection of songs. The two cranked out many albums together in the mid and late 50s, all wonderful in their own way (Moonlight Sinatra is my favorite mid 60's), but this one has to be the at the top. Franks chops were in their prime, the selection of songs and Riddles orchestrations, perfect fit.
With a Riddle/Sinatra song you know right off before the singing starts if Riddle arranged the song. Just the introduction speaks volumes. Don't get me wrong, Billy May can also cook but ... Read More:

Broadway revival cast albums are a tricky thing -- how do you make something fresh, while not copying the original, and not making a mess of it, either?
This 1999 revival cast of YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN is fairly decent. The arrangements have life, the performances are enthusiastic, and the humor is simple and clear.
Anthony Rapp, Roger Bart, and the fabulous Kristin Chenoweth do a great job. A little silly, a little cartoonish, and perfectly suited for the material.
Unfortunately, a few of the other performers aren't well-suited for this music. Ilana Levine is a little TOO over-the-top and comes across as inauthentic, and B.D. Wong just has too much vibrato to be playing a young boy.
If you're looking for only one recording ... Read More:
