...Your collection is incomplete without this CD. And if you are just searching for the Celtic sound and can't stand it when you find you only enjoy half - or fewer than half - the selections on a CD, this is the one. Such is my experience and I cannot find a single negative thing to say about Celtic Voices. Each singer is without equal, each song blended with exquisite harmonies and instrumental artistry; your ears will relish the results from the first note until the last song ends. A 12 on a scale of 1 to 10 !!

Well, it used to be when you went to an airport there would be natural flower children, with flower print dresses, with (of all things) flowers to hand out to weary passer-bys. Their buttons revealed their true thoughts: "Make Love, Not War", "Groovey!", "Don't Trust Anyone Over 30!" How foolish to think anything like this could survive into the modern day a go-go world we all know and love. (!)
These days we have persons of a different ilk. You know the ones. They have many piercings, are very loud (urgent that they be heard!) and walk around with placards that read "Save Britney!" or "Free Paris!". As if I didn't have anything better to concentrate on - like freeing and saving myself. Ah! The price we pay for progress folks!

I love Billy Bragg's lefty politics, his rough, un-taught voice and his tremendous guitar playing, but most I just love his courage. He's a good, at times clever song writer - "Walk Away Renee" was a nice surprise, and you just should have him in your catalog.

The Chieftains..BLUE GRASS?
Yep, shure 'nough is, y'all.
Well, sorta...
When people hear "Chieftains" they're thinking Irish, Gaelic..but BLUE GRASS? Actually it's not a stretch at all considering that Irish folk music played a major role in the creation of American folk music, Blue Grass (Tenessee, Kentucky)--and via Blue Grass to Country & Western. Of course other ethnic flavors are involved including Scottish & colonial British, French, Spanish & African (Gospel, Blues, Jazz.)
To offer a comparison, the soundtrack of "O, Brother, Where Art Thou?" gives a pretty good sampler of Blue Grass, & this CD does the same--but with more songs, more A-List US artists (John Hiatt, Bela Fleck, Earl Scruggs, Vince Gill, Alison ... Read More:

Until recently, I had never heard of Schooner Fare. Only a chance hearing of 'We The People' on satellite radio brought them to my attention. Having since obtained the eponymous album, I have to say it is beyond me how the popular garbage that usually passes for music today is so inescapable, and such a fine group as this is so far under the radar. This album has it all for any lover of acoustic folk music: songwriting that fires the imagination and lifts the spirit, tight harmonies, and a sound that is truly their own. My one regret is that it took me so long to find this.

I have this Fairport cd for myself, and this was a Christmas present for my 10 year old grandson who has become a Fairport fan. He loves it!

I really enjoy this music. I like the quality and style of music presented by the Irish Tenors, and I like Christmas music. This is the perfect CD for me. I like hearing it from early November through the holiday season. I have given this album as a gift, and it was much appreciated. I would recommend it for anyone who likes traditional Christmas music.

"Mellow Yellow"--both the album and the hit single--followed "Sunshine Superman" in Donovan's canon of releases. It is perhaps a touch below the latter in terms of overall originality and vision, but only a "small touch." In this work Donovan gets down to the style that became permanently his terrain: jazz-accented and mythically-oriented light folk-pop. There's not a clunker on the entire album, which features (apart from the bizarre headliner hit itself) Donovan at his observational and reflective best--gems like 'Writer in the Sun,' 'Sand and Foam,' 'Young Girl Blues,' 'House of Jansch,' 'Hampstead Incident' and 'Sunny South Kensington'. Sidemen included the likes of Danny Thompson, Phil Seamen, Harold McNair, and Tony Carr, among others. This digitally remastered release features excellent sound, ... Read More:

This soundtrack is full of very lovely and relaxing music. Those who love Irish traditional music will appreciate the fine version of mist on the mountain/the musical priest, and over the moor to Maggie/the bucks of Oranmore. Highly recommended listening.
