There are 49 prior reviews. MINE is number 50. Add me to all the other 5 star reviews. Like so many others, my prior exposure was via Repo Man. Well, some 25 years or more later, I bought this record by sheer accident at a pawn shop. (Also for full price on Amazon just bought Circle Jerks 'Group Sex', which I'm pleased to report stands the test of time; a slam down memory lane.) What a discovery. As great as is 'Institutionalized,' S.T. is hardly a one-hit wonder. All of the other songs on this record are punk perfection, intense, but musical and topical. (I shot Reagan!) If they'd kept this lineup together, they would have eclipsed Dead Kennedys and would be the U.S. answer to the Clash. But I suppose Punk was dying by the early '80s ... Read More:

I've been a Megadeth fan since Peace Sells, so I consider myself pretty familiar with their catalog. That said, this album was really refreshing. Ever since "Rust In Peace", far and away their best, the quality of their output has steadily declined, reaching a nadir with the utterly horrid "Risk".
This album is a return to the sound on "Rust in Peace". The songs are longer and more complex, and there's a decided progressive bent. Also, and not to overstate this aspect, but unlike "Rust in Peace", there's a strong Zeppelin influence on this record in parts.
The musicianship, as usual, is stellar. Chris Poland (guitar) demonstrates that he can still shred with the best guitarists today. Mustaine's voice - never a ... Read More:

Amazing...all I can really say about these guys. I first saw them with Slayer and Killswitch Engage in Atlanta. They stole the show. After that night, Ive been a huge fan of theirs. Each album that has came out has only gotten better and better. How many bands can you say that about? Blood Mountain is a progressive masterpiece. Waves of technical guitar work, thunderous vocals, and some of the best drumming period from Brann. This album reminds me alot of when I first heard Black Water park from Opeth...It melted my mind. Blood Mountain is that good.......

I have to admit that this album isn't as bad as 'Doomsday Machine'. It's still terrible and I don't recommend you buy it at all, but it is better than the previous one. Of course, farting in my own mouth is better than 'Doomsday Machine' so I guess it's not saying much.
Essentially I'd describe this as the best you can possibly do with the elements found on 'Doomsday Machine'. Gothenburg-derived guitarwork laced with Machine Head groove, annoying mock-ferocious vocals from that retarded chimp Gossow, and generic drumwork, all tied up with the bow of painfully sterile and clean production. There's almost nothing to recommend for it except that it's 'not that bad'. Again, it's better than 'Doomsday Machine'. The guitars are kind of catchy ... Read More:

There are some really good songs on this album, but they need to mix-up up their style and experiment a bit more with their sound. The songs do tend to sound a bit the same, but I have a feeling In this Moment's next album will be alot better after they have gain more experience and done a great deal of touring.
Release Date October 25, 1990
I loved this album better than their next one. It's just got that eerily hard heavy, dare I say, medievel sound. The remix of the old Deep Purple song does it justice. You can't go wrong with this one--give it a listen.
Release Date January 27, 1998
this is the cd that most people noticed sepultura as a certified thrash band with they reminded me of slayer hellawaits a bit with this cd but they had alot more to offer.I wish they could realy clean up the recording it has alot of hiss and extra noise on it.but simply a must have for thrash fans.

Metallica is great, this product displays them at their near worst. Pandering to the crowd, playing with the lights on for the first few songs, asking if the crowd wants "heavy". Give me a break. Metallica never needed to do anything but go up on stage and crank the stuff out, so why they resorted to these tactics I don't know. Other than they are playing to the cameras, which every band does, but this is a little out of character. I don't understand the glowing reviews here. I frankly feel the audience got shortchanged and didn't experience a true Metalli-show where it's all black, all music, all fist pumping, all the time. And the stupid camera-angle-change feature of my DVD didn't work. More marketing to the masses I suppose.

Scored this Lp a good decade back, but had to throw a review up, as the least i could do was type a quick review on it, to praise the dudes who slapped it together. Spewin' Reed M. aint behind the kit no more for these dudes, but none the less Pepper Keenan & Woodrow W. pull out all the stops on guitar, with great support from Mike D. on bass. Songs like Albatross, & Shake Like You are instant winners with catch hooks that tune you in to the end of each track. To my surprise were the quiet little interlude tracks, (this trait does appear in the sonic works of the supergroup Down also), so i would have to tip my hat to Pepper for these efforts. A must listen before your time comes to an end on this planet.

I don't think people realize how important and overlooked Death was to modern day death metal.
Death
Possessed
Slayer
Bathory
Venom
Were it not for these groups there would be no death/black metal.
I'm done lecturing. This cd for it's time was the brutal of the brutal.
There were none more heavy. None more fast. None more evil.
A MUST for any death metal fan and one of the most important and often overlooked discs in metal history.
