Another great album by Slayer and Rick Rubin. This album will grab you by the balls, and won't let go. Kerry King's guitar work is great as always!! This is a band that keeps giving you an assault of thrash and doom metal, that'll keep you comming back for more!!
Release Date July 27, 2004
I've had this album in one form or another since it came out in the 80's, so I've had plenty of time to listen to it, and I've come to this conclusion:
This is one of Megadeth's angriest and fastest albums, if Pantera defines heavy metal agression, Megadeth defines the heavy metal tantrum. The riffs are complex, the beats are fast, and the songs are hard and angry. Make no mistake though - this is a very technical group of songs played well by virtuoso musicians.
The writing isn't quite up to par with later work on "Rust in Peace" and "Symphony of Destruction" - there are no single songs that blow me away. All of the songs follow a similar pattern of building up from a slow intro more often then not into a thrash ... Read More:

If this wasn't Destruction, I might've given this a "3"; as it is, my respect and allegiance to these legends colours my critique. First, there are MORE than "3 guest guitarists", as the Amazon description reads, but have no fear: the solos are not gratuitous solo-for-solos-sake, they are tastefully contained within the context of the songs. This is a very well-produced, very LOUD demonstration of Thrash MeTal very well-performed by Masters of the genre, with a few hints of novel elements. If that sounds great to you, don't hesitate to buy this. BUT! if you are a long-standing fan of Destruction since the early days, you can probably wait awhile to buy this, as you've really heard it before on their post-reunion albums. And you've heard a lot better than ... Read More:

at a time when metallica, slayer, megadeth, anthrax where starting their climb to kings of thrash the most underrated/misstimed release was playing and had a lp full of tunes before metallica was a band/and stoled kirk from exodus.these guys had it together but bad luck/timing.the guitars are crisper than alot of first cd in that era and the drums are insane dave lambardo sounds beat till reign in blood.these guy stood the test of time well never reaching the sucess that they should have but never giving up their chops.they finally got some bigger breaks around the second coming of thrash (testament,heathen,forbidden,vio-lence&death angle)whick they seamed to rise above that class of thrash but could never make the first class status, but they could show you what thrash ... I really think it's time to stop whining about this album. Rust In peace is an unbelievable classic. This remaster, on the whole, sounds better than the original (as you'd expect with a remaster), and the new vocals couldn't be helped. Vocal track tapes went missing for certain songs, and so alternate takes from 1990 were used for the songs Five Magics and Lucretia, and Take No Prisoners had to be resung. Considering the 14 year gap between the original recording of RIP and the resung vocals on TNP, Dave Mustaine's 2004 vocals on the track stand up very well. Whether you like these alternate vocals or not is down to the individual, but surely it's time to stop moaning about something that just couldn't be helped. The remastering and remixing of these albums was a great ... Read More:

I started to listen to Pantera in 2003,probably a little bit before the band broke up.I really like to listen to them more than other metal bands. This greatest hits cd really has a lot of really great tracks from their past recordings. This cd has a diverse sound from the early Metallica inspired "Cowboys from Hell" to "Reinventing The Steel",which became more of a heaver sound. My favorite songs are "I'm Broken","5 minutes alone","Walk" and my all time favorite is "Mouth for War".Their is a lot of great songs, but it also came with a dvd which shows their music videos for most of the popular songs and live stuff.
I thinks they should of done what Alice in Chains did and release a box set with live and rare songs. Some of their songs are not include like "Domination","F****** ... Read More:

Fuel is a standard in the rock & roll world, and this album contains some of the best they have done so far. This is a great place to start if you are wondering if this band is for you.

Once your ears are able to pervade the vacuum-like production, you'll realize how awesome this album is. It's a jaw-dropping mix of technicality, brutality, and social commentary. The social commentary isn't particularly deep, but it still fits the music well, as does Chuck Schuldiner's raspy voice. My only real complaints regarding Human are that Steve DiGiorgio's bass is practically inaudible (what is it with extreme metal and inaudible bass guitars?), and that Paul Masvidal should have been given more lead guitar opportunities. He has a very distinctive style, while Chuck Schuldiner tends to play rather similar-sounding solos, but that's a minor complaint.
I'm relatively new to death metal, and Human is a great starting point. After all, the death metal genre was arguably named ... Read More:

Slayer is ok, I remember seasons in the abyss playing on headbangers ball and to me was no more better then when they played Overkill or Sepultura. The songs to me that really are decent are tracks 3,4,5,7 and 10. The rest of the songs to me are just thrash speed metal. I can find lots of influences from other bands in these songs and their album-- but to me the group stands on line with Pentagram. The riffs to me are nearly identical in tempo and style. They talk about black obscure spooky things. The lead singer is good and appreciate the way he expresses his voice in the songs mentioned. The irish are tending to be masters of black realmed music beginning with Pentagram, Slayer, Tool. But then again this is USA you cannot capture what you can let go.
